Question to the makers

I was a huge eastside hockey fan and posted on there board a lot and talked to the makers a little bit if I remember right I thought out of park baseball was the same creators of ehm maybe I'm wrong but some of the names of the head guys who answer questions are the same as ehm only one I have not seen is Duffy believe his first name is Marc? Are these the same people?

Someone correct me on this but this is how I vaguely remember it.

Risto Remes created the EHM Freeware and after a successful launch it was picked up by SI Games the creators of football manager.

Markus and co were at that time developing out of the park baseball. Which also eventually was picked up by SI Games.

So yes you are right from some point I want to say 05 - 07 the games were all made through the same producer in sports interactive. After this period of time EHM was shelved while SI still owns the rights and Riz now works on the Football Manager franchise and from my understanding due to the similarities in coding from FM > EHM that SI games will not sell the product.

OOTP on the other hand didn't have such coding and after SI games decided not to continue publishing the game I think Markus and OOTP Developments bought the rights back to continue publishing independently.

It may not have went exactly like that but that is how I remember it shaking down. I am sure Jeff has a lot on his plate but in this community he is probably the best to speak to this being part of both the EHM team and the FHM team.

Drewst has it exactly right. I'm not sure about the deal with Markus/SI owning the rights or not - but the rest is definitely correct.

There were some EHM CDs sold with a demo of OOTPB on them. This was at the time when both games were being developed by SI.

I believe OOTP 2007 and v8 are the same version. One SI and the other OOTPD.

Most of that is correct, although anything about the reasons SI has for not selling EHM to Riz and/or another developer would just be speculation on my part.

SI-OOTP was a very friendly breakup, people on both sides still talk to each other regularly (I need to email Riz, come to think of it), play each other's games, and everybody's got each other on their facebook friends list.

The main crossovers between the EHM team and FHM are myself and two of our researchers, Vikke and Alessandro. We've had a few other former EHM researchers do some work for us as well, and there are also some people here like Colin (archibalduk on the board), who've been big contributors to the EHM community over the years. Markus was part of SI at the same time EHM was being published and his name is on the game credits (along with everyone else at SI), but I don't think he ever did any work on EHM, he was busy with OOTP. I vaguely remember Aurelio Barrios, OOTP's artist at the time, doing some stuff for us back then, but he's no longer with OOTP and didn't work on FHM.
