Maximize defensive position subroutine check
Lousy title, but here's what I mean:
At the beginning of game (sometimes after two lineup changes) the AI will make changes to my lineup based on tiredness or 'play this guy every X game logic. Then it will make a second lineup change for the same/similar reason. However, the AI is wont (this a real word, I did not forget a "'") to make batting order changes after two alterations to my standard lineup, however, it never checks to see if the defensive positions are optimized. An example at the beginning of a recent game illustrates my point. The AI made two changes to my infield--at second and third. The first sub is rated 10 at third/15 at second. He was placed at third. The second player was 7 at third and 6 at second. He was placed at second. So instead of a 7 at third and 15 at second, my team went with 10 at third and 6 at second. Why? Why does the AI not check to see if the defensive positioning is maximized? This happens quite often. The AI needs to make a check after the lineups are drawn to see if simple positioning can benefit the defensive positioning.

You know, I just had a "DUH!" moment.
For some reason, my brain had always thought that the pre-game subs were somehow simultaneous. Now, it finally registers that, duh, it's a computer. Of COURSE they are run sequentially (and independently). I think Leo is right, after all the subs are done it needs to reorient the defensive positions based on who's in the game now. |
