Continental Independent Baseball League
The CIBL was actually conceived by forum member "dgnmrwrw" on Chris Creamer's logo boards. Here is his original description dated April of 2012...
""This is a project I've been working on (off and on) for several months to a year. It's been a very long time since I did baseball work, and I don't think I've ever tried to tackle an entire league. I liked the idea of trying some baseball designs because of the potential to do some really interesting and different typographic work, including scripts and more old-style looks. Some of this work has been shown (in some form) before, including the recent PuckDrawn contest, but most of it is brand new. So I'm presenting the Continental Independent Baseball League: four divisions of six teams each, for a total of 24 teams in non-MLB markets. With a few exceptions (which I'll do my best to point out), all the work is 100% mine, including the original base sketches and (I think) every bit of the typography. In general, there's definitely more of a minor-league aesthetic, from the style of the logos to the color choices. But I tried my best to do things that were fun, and (hopefully) the entire league features a variety of styles. On this initial post, I'll be displaying a league map (updating it as additional teams are presented), along with a grid of league logos and caps (ditto)."" He toiled on this project until June of 2013, when his posts suddenly ceased. At that point he had created logos and uniforms for 17 of the 24 teams as follows... Albuquerque Spirits Birmingham Colonels Boise Wranglers Buffalo Freeze Charlotte Monarchs Columbus Comets El Paso Friars Green Bay Mechanics Hartford Warriors Indianapolis Guardians Jacksonville Tritons Las Vegas Scorpions Nashville Grays New Orleans Bullfrogs Norfolk Dominion Oklahoma City Engineers Omaha Thunderhead Although I would have loved to have all 24 teams at my disposal to create a league in OOTP, it appeared he had dropped the project. I therefore took 16 of the 17 teams (eliminating the Albuquerque Spirits) and created a North and South division (8 teams each) to form the CIBL I am reporting on here. I also chose to start the league in 2001 to use modern baseball rules and finances. I am also using this dynasty to display my latest ideas on reporting a league through a newspaper format. I will play out one week at a time and try and develop an interesting narrative for the CIBL. Yes, I know, I'm always harping on a newspaper format - but I honestly believe that this is a feature that would be well received for those who grew up following baseball through the daily rag. The various reports will be in PDF format, so a PDF reader will be required. Comments are welcome and I hope you enjoy the project. Week 5 of the CIBL now posted.
I've modified the newspaper format a bit to come closer to the final result I'm looking for (hoping for) in a future version of OOTP. Comments are welcome if you have any. |

I usually don't follow the dynasty threads but I have been recently playing around with this concept and would love to develop the uniforms for it. Does anyone know if dgnmrwrw ever gave his consent to allow his logos and/or unis to be recreated for OOTP? Such great stuff, it seems a sin to not be using them.

I've made uniforms and logos from that whole set about a year ago but haven't posted them in this forum because I couldn't get a response from the original designer. I've thought about posting them anyway but decided I didn't want the grief from people complaining.
In my opinion, if a good faith effort is made to contact the designer, design credit is given, and the person posting isn't making money, it should be okay to post. Not everyone agrees so I haven't posted them. |
