V13 to V14 Conversion Doesn't Look Right
A few days ago I did a conversion of my OOTP13 to OOTP14, after first backing up my v13; however, looking at the results of the conversion on the various screens of OOTP14, things don't seem quite right. This conversion is only the second one I've ever done, so I'm afraid I need someone's expert advice on the following issues since I don't remember these things occurring during my previous conversion:
1. In v13, the League Menu window reflected the name of my League as being Major League 2010. I titled the name of my new league in v14 as MLB 2011; however, even after the conversion to v14, the League Menu in v14 still reflects Major League 2010, which was the name of v13. Considering I've downloaded v14, and it's obvious to me that, based on the different appearance of the various screens, v14 did in fact download, shouldn't the League Menu window reflect the name of v14, which is MLB 2011, instead of the name of v13, which was Major League 2010? 2. On the Game Setup page, the Selected League, located in the upper right corner of the League Setup Tab, reflects the name of the League as being Major League 2010, even though I've converted from v13 to v14. Shouldn't the Selected League on the League Setup Tab reflect the title of v14, which should be MLB 2011? 3. Following the download of v14 and opening the rosters of several teams, I observed that each of the teams still had all the player stats that were accumulated while playing the entire season in v13. Shouldn't the download of v14 have zeroed out these stats in preparation for the next season? 4. Even after downloading v14, the schedule and scores reflect the previous season's schedule and scores under v13. Shouldn't the schedule in v14 be that of the upcoming season without any scores, yet? Finally, I should note that the Database Path, located on the Historical Tab of the Game Setup page's League Setup Tab, reflects "......OOTP Baseball14\stats", which seems to further indicate that v14 downloaded successfully. Also, I conducted the download of v14 the day after the playoffs, which was one day prior to the offseason began in v13, if it makes any difference. If v14 did in fact download successfully, why am I still seeing signs and indications of v13 and the previous season I just completed, as explained in items 1-4 above? I'd be appreciative of any assistance anyone can provide, so I can get on with advancing my new v14 (MLB 2011). Thanks........ |

Everything you've explained is exactly how an import works. It keeps all previous info. You're good to go.

Sounds to me that you might have misunderstood what happens when you import a league from a previous version. Importing just puts your league into that newest version of OOTP. It does not advance the game and should not change any settings, screens, etc. in any way. It will be exactly as it was in 13, but now playing in 14.

Keep in mind that a v14 download and a v13 league conversion are two separate events. You cannot convert a v13 league until you have downloaded and run v14.
Your post gave the impression that the two events were happening concurrently. Seems like you are good to go.

Thank you, guys. I get better service on this forum than I do in any restaurant I go to. And what's more, I get 3 opinions from 3 guys with great credibility on this forum.
You're right, 17, I am usually in a state of confusion whenever I need to do anything with OOTP besides play out a season. I first have to research stuff on the forum and in my notes to try to keep from screwing something up, which has happened. Now, I can confidently press on with another season. Is this a GREAT game or what! Thanks, again. |

Figured I'd jump on your coat tail rather than start a new thread.
I am currently running v13 and have been considering moving to v14 but concerned about the importing and the effects it might have on my current league. So, for those who have imported from a previous version are there any problems or glitches that you have experienced. Ex. I recently restored from backup and all my email was gone. It showed the date but title and body were blank. Thanks, Greg Last edited by gregw1; 10-18-2013 at 02:48 PM. |

This game converts smoothly, unless you have created some complex huge world with all kinds of odd settings, you won't have any problems converting. OOTP has been good at this for a long time. |

OK, figured it might be something like that. Everything else seemed to be ok.
Thanks for the info. Greg |
