AAA All-Star Game

Is there any way to schedule an all-star game between the International and Pacific Leagues? Thanks.

AAA All-Star Game

In my fictional league, I have 2 seperate leagues set up. Each has 6 teams, and a "dummy" team that provides as an All-Star team. When the time comes, I switch the All-Stars to the dummy team and schedule an exhibition game. While OOTP does not recognize it as an All-Star Game, you can record it manually with an Excel formula or similar. I change the players' histories, and then I move them back to their original teams. I then delete the dummy team because, if I don't, it will have scheduled games next season.

So, to answer your question, no. Unless you want to go through the above

So,

If you copy your league and do this in the copy, then the stats won't be part of the regular season numbers.....

Which is what you want, right? I mean, stats from all-star games don't show up in players' stats.

Create a new league. Call it the 'Triple-A Association' or whatever you want. Have it contain two subleagues, with one subleague being the International League and the other the Pacific Coast League. You can the have an All-Star Game automatically if you want. You can also have a Triple-A championship if you want.

You'd want to combine the real IL and PCL schedules if you want the schedule to be like the real thing.

In addition to what the others have said, another way to do it is:
Setup the 2 AAA lgs. the same as the MLB. I have the Int'l lg and PCL as 2 separate subleagues with no interleague games. You have to combine the 2 lgs. schedules. Just change the team numbers in one of the existing schedules before you conbime them. Or, use the import subleague schedule feature to import the separate schedules. In addition to the all-star game, you also get the final pcl vs. Int'l lg. AAA National championship game.

Yes. Any league can be affiliated. You just have to set it as affiliated. To do so go to the league you want to affiliate. Click League Setup > Names and Affiliations. Then change the fourth box down, titled Parent League to MLB. Then fields will appear on that screen next to each team in the newly affiliated league where you'll be able to setup each teams affiliation to a specific MLB team.

Yes. You should be able to do it with any league.

This opens up all kinds of possibilities for an "international flavor" to a leagues. The problem though is still staff and players who infiltrate other leagues at strange times of the season. Is there any way to do a true world representation of baseball the way fm does it with football?

Can you clarify what you're asking here? I'm a little dense, not sure whether you're asking if it's possible to run a universe with lots of international leagues included (it is), or something else entirely?

right...a universe where every league is represented. The world doesn't revolve around you, you're just part of it. But can OOTP handle all of the different nationalities of staff and players in a realistic manner?

It does pretty well. Not quite as well as FM perhaps, but not at all badly.

I've run universes with major leagues of varying financial and talent levels from 10-12 different nations, plus quite a few indy leagues

A lot depends on the settings you use for each league, the pcm's, finances, the amount of foreigners allowed, roster limits, etc. It takes some tweaking and experimenting to find just the right setup, at least it does for me. But once you get things arranged to your liking, OOTP can produce pretty sweet results in that kind of a universe.

right, I guess I've been looking for this in a more "out of the box" sort of way...it's a lot of work to figure all of that out...and you are right, it does need to be figured out. I wonder if we, as a community, could start doing a lot of experimenting so that we cold have a better "out of the box" OOTP for the future.

The good news is there are far fewer baseball leagues in the world than football.

True. But there are quite a few baseball leagues at the 'bigger' professional level. There are even more when you start going to 'smaller' pro levels. The question soon arises as to what leagues are worthy of being included in a list of 'true' or 'real' pro baseball leagues.

Trust me on this, I have reason to know based on a little project I'm working on.

There are more real-life leagues than you might suspect...

this reminds me of the efforts of one Dr. P.R. Park III. He has developed a World of Baseball quickstart for years though I think his more recent version never quite got completed. Find it here

I have never actually played one of his quickstarts but have followed his methods with interest as they have informed some of my fictional efforts.
