Expected Roles

What gives and why did this happen?

Dave Parker, my perennial “Middle of the Lineup” guy that hits over .300 with over 100+ RBIs and over 25+ HRs, suddenly wants to be “Top of the Lineup”

In the same breath, Willie Randolph, a perennial “Top of the Lineup” slap hitter with speed, now wants to be “Middle of the Lineup.”

That's how players' minds work. One guy wants to bat in the middle of the order and hit with guys on base, even though he's a speed guy, and the power guy probably wants more plate appearances.

Keeping them in their current positions won't make them angry, they will just be listed as "normal" under role on team. Only putting them 5th or 6th or lower will make them angry with their roles.

I have player who challenges for the batting title every year several extra base hits and averages about20 HR's per year. He also has speed. Based on the makeup of my team I have him batting second while he feels he should be "middle of the lineup" He is angry with his role on the team. I could see him being angry if he was batting 8th but he is batting second. Given his stats while being angry about his role has no effect on his game-his lifetime average is around .330 so I pretty much ignore it. He is in his 9th year in 4 of the last six he won the batting title and finished second the other two. That's one example and after playing through many seasons I haven't seen where bad moral has translated to poor performance.
