As long as they get tired by the end of the 7th, that's jake with me. Plus the itching and the burning whenever they move... well, should do wonders for their hitting and pitching abilities.

My sympathies, guys - the A's are a tough team, and with their young pitchers, they look to be even tougher next year.
They've made a believer out of me. |

Bah! Bah! I say. Verlander has turned me into a sheep.

The A's are my second team. I agree that it's a really disappointing way for the season to end
![]() But blaming Billy Beane is not fair at all. Given their budget constraints he's doing an incredible job just getting them in the playoffs as often as they make it. He's giving the fans the moon, it's a little tough to ask for the sun too ![]() |

Yeah, I don't blame Beane at all. That's just a Moneyball quote, "My **** don't work in the playoffs."
We're lucky to have him. I don't think there's a magic thing that you could go get (other than a Justin Verlander clone) to suddenly win in the playoffs. It's been bad luck mostly, and stupid mistakes (Jeremy not sliding, Eric Byrnes not touching the plate, Terrence Long losing a ball in the sun, and Josh Reddick's swing and miss at ball four is the latest addition to the list). You know - and everyone says this - all this losing will just make it all that sweeter when we do finally win it all.
But really, I would've gone bananas like we won the World Series if we could've just won that ****ing game 5. |

dola,
My dad actually liked both the A's the Giants. He would've worn one of those awful split caps if he had one. :vomit: |

I might like the giants if they gave us San Jose.* Of course, they won't.
Edit: And I'm glad you realize that the Giants are the dark side. *(And I probably wouldn't like them if they did)

I admire the A's - they've done so much with so little consistently, year in and year out. Just like Kansas City, they have a core of young, strong players that will only get better with age, and I believe the A's will continue to be a force to be reckoned with the West.
In my book, they're aces and one of the best damn teams around, and that's no joke. They nearly took the DS and would have if Verlander hadn't suddenly became so dominant. If he had pitched the way he did during the regular season, the A's would be preparing to face Boston right now. Hold your heads high, guys. You have nothing to be ashamed of, and there's next year. The Tigers are not going to keep block the A's way much longer, because they won't be able to afford the big salaries after a few more years. |

Just picked up a news report that says Gray suffered a broken thumb on his left (non-pitching) hand in the 5th inning.
