Team ownership

I love how the game has owners and when the owner dies his son replaces him. The one thing is many teams are not family owned some are owned by a group of people or by a company, the game should simulate real life right? Have teams be bought by a new ownership group or have the CEO be replaced because in a Group setting only one can represent the team he given the title of CEO or President have him be replaced rather than just "dying" we don't need every team be family owned and only changes hand when the son replaces the dead father

I agree with variety in ownership changes. Divorce, bankruptcy, and cashing out for retirement or estate planning could all be plausible reasons for transfer of control.

Also, does the son ALWAYS have to be [Father's Name], Jr.? He could have a different first name occasionally. I have seen three generations with the same first name.

This has been OOTP for a while. I regularly see teams sold as well as changing hands due to death.

I have seen it, but definitely not regularly. I would say 9 out of 10 are owner death.

I am seeing more teams sold than deaths. I play only fictional but doubt that would have any bearing on it.

They could definitely add to the reasons though, throw in the odd bankruptcy, or an owner caught in a gambling scheme and being forced to sell.

This is huge. How hard would it be for the game to pick a random first name out of the database? A Junior every once in a while is fine, but once you get twenty or so years into the league and half the teams are being run by Juniors, it becomes a little off-putting.

Most recent simulation I played had 5 owners die in 5 months. I couldn't help but wondering if there was something in the water.

Sounds like someone's staging a coup.

The era of juniors!

Back on topic, It would be nice if there was more of an ownership dynamic, like asking for more money to acquire a key player in a playoff run (I think this was an idea suggested before this version) owners selling the team because they are broke, or because they don't want it, etc. Or like the current stadium problem with the Oakland A's and seeking to move to another city if they can't get a new stadium.
