Injury During Playoffs
My starting shortstop went down with an injury during game 4 of the championship series. I put him on the DL, so I only have 24 players on my playoff roster.
Everytime I try to add a player to the playoff roster it says that Roster moves are not allowed in the middle of a playoff series. There is an exception to this rule if there is an injury, right? Is there a workaround to add a player to my roster. I only have one real shortstop on my roster at the moment. |

I believe you are correct in relation to the rule.
To my understanding, if a player is injured in the middle of a series he can be replaced on the roster. The injured player would not be eligible to play in the next series. Unfortunately I am not savvy enough to know whether there is a way around this. The list of players eligible to be picked from as an injury replacement is quite confusing to me. I believe this is a change from the old collective bargaining agreement. So if we are playing on the old agreement no changes would be allowed as per the way the game is handling it. It may be frustrating but it is much simpler! |

edit: actually now I am doing a little research and I may be wrong on this. Seems to me that at least at some point teams could make NO changes to their playoff roster during a series. Last edited by byzeil; 09-30-2013 at 04:05 PM. |

Players injured during a playoff series could be replaced starting in 2007 in MLB. Such replacement is limited to a pitcher replacing a pitcher or a position player replacing a position player. The injured player must miss the remainder of the current series and all of the next before he can returned to the lineup.
Note that OOTP does not recreate this rule. |

I did not realize that it went back to 2007. Fyi the most recent thing I read indicated that the replacement player no longer has to be an even swap of positions. But as you said OOTP does not recreate the rule. And sometimes that is for the best. |

Originally, injured players could only be replaced before the start of a playoff series, and such replacement had to have a pitcher replacing a pitcher and a non-pitcher replacing a non-pitcher (the specific field position didn't matter). For 2007 this requirement was dropped for injury replacements made before a playoff series, and the ability to replace a player injured during a playoff series was added (but with the restriction of a pitcher replacing a pitcher and a non-pitcher replacing a non-pitcher). |

No but there is a bug which may give a work around. Go to the 7-day lineup screen. They have to be on for this to work. On the left hand side the list shown is the active roster (that's the bug) not just the playoff roster. You can drag and drop a player from there to the lineup for that game.
Some caveats I have only done the drag and drop and think I went to the opening screen of a game and confirmed the player was in the lineup. I never actually played the game using the cheat. This may crash your game or cause some other issue. Use at your own risk. Good luck
