Can someone verify that this is a fair trade?

I'm (NYY) offering:

- Will Middlebrooks 3B
- Mason Williams CF (5 * pot)
- Joba Chamberlain MR
- Slade Headrhcott RF (4 * pot)
- Austin Aunne SS (2* pot)

for (Miami Marlins)

- Giancarlo Stanton RF
- Placido Polanco

No cash on either side.

Not enough information. The Middlebrooks or Stanton in your game could be drastically different from real life. In my MLB league, Middlebrooks wound up playing a few seasons for the Sox and then became a minor league depth player when he hit free agency. Stats and/or ratings are necessary to judge the fairness of the trade.

I started a new game, so basically vanilla with the latest patch not one game played...

I traded Kevin Youkilis (not a fan of his contract or the actual player) and a couple of other players + Cash to the Sox for Will Middlebrooks and now trying to use Will Middlebrooks to bait a deal for Stanton.

In my game Middlebrooks is a star on the Red Sox. He's got a .300+ BA and 25+ HR's, which proves your point.

That trade looks like a steal for Miami, but as the others said...

In that case... I'd say it's definitely fair from the Marlins' standpoint, but I would advise against it from a Yankees perspective. Honestly, as good as Stanton is, I'd say you're breaking the bank for him here. Giving up two very good outfield prospects as well as Middlebrooks seems like a high price.

the way i see it it's

Middlebrooks and Williams for Stanton, who's an already accomplished player...

Slade doesn't look like a good prospect to me and Joba is expensive and have some young relievers asking for room...

it was either Stanton, Harper or Justin Upton.

Also, I could trade Stanton right now to the Orioles for Manny Machado and Matt Wieters.....

Huh. I'd actually say that that's a bad deal for Miami. I don't think they'd ever do that irl, Middlebrooks and Mason Williams don't look anything more than decent regulars at best and might not even reach that level. Looks like I'm outvoted though, so what do I know?

I got that as I was watching...of course I started out thinking "WTF does this have to do with anything....OOOOHHHH...Now I get what he's getting at!" Made it even funnier, for me.

No offense taken, and none intended from me toward you. Youkilis and that clip are forever paired associates in my mind, hence the initial Braveheart comment....which resulted in me becoming short of breath laughing while watching your link. Good deal all around, I say.

I will have to test out fictional, however half the fun for me is playing with the players I know and love IRL.

The reason I say it's a good deal for Miami is that sure, they'd be trading away a superstar outfielder, but he would spend most of his career languishing on a team that isn't going to get better without intervention. And in return, they'd get a good, young 3B and two up-and-coming outfield prospects, all three of whom could help a possible revival of the franchise in a way a single star player wouldn't. Chamberlain is just the icing on the cake.

Yeah, I can certainly see the reasoning behind making the deal for Miami. Just not sure that Middlebrooks and Williams would be the right guys to go after. I'm personally not very high at all on either of them.
