Fantastic Wild-Card Finish!
I don't post often, but often find myself envious of the leagues that others have going.
So, I have read intensely and learned from other people posting how I wanted to set up my leagues. All this to say my current 2013 Quick start is in 2014 and I have one heck of a Wild-card finish going on. To clarify, I am in commissioner mode but do not GM any teams at this time. I am scheduled to take over the Padres in 2024 (randomly selected team/year, thanks to a suggestion posted by Vanilla Gorilla). So my main role is watching the league unfold. Multiple tie-breaker games in the AL and one in the NL! The Mariners and the White Sox will square off and then the Dodgers and the Orioles will square off. The Twins are home and cooled out, waiting to play the winner of mini-competition. I'm hopeful that once the 2 games in the AL are final, the game will then have both winners square off to determine who plays the Twins. My thinking is right, however my concern is the game will not get it right. Before I sim, anyone else have this sort of finish and if you can share what happened I'd be grateful. The NL game is just the Nats/Marlins to determine who plays the Reds. if you are a Marlins fan, you have to feel for them, as the Nats put on a hell of a stretch run to make this game. Either way, what an awesome way to finish a season! Last edited by DocHalladay; 09-07-2013 at 10:12 AM. |

I'm happy to report the game did a great job scheduling the tie-breaker wild-card games!
In the Seattle/White Sox game, Fernandez went up against Quintana. Seattle scored a pair of runs in each of the 2nd/4th innings to win 4-1. The O's travelled to LA to face the Angels. The Angels were 47-34 at home during the season while the O's were 37-44 on the road. Jeff Manship took the ball for the Angels while Matt Garza took the hill for the O's. Garza had signed a 4 year FA deal in the off-season with the O's. After the Angels score one in the 3rd, Baltimore scored 2 in the 6th courtesy of an Adam Jones 2 run homer and added one in the top of the 9th for a 3-1 win. Washington succumbed to the Marlins 3-1 in a Fernandez/Zimmerman match-up. Jones' home run was the only one hit in the 3 play-in games. This then setup a Seattle/Baltimore game in Baltimore to advance to the official play-in game against the Twins. Seattle's pythag was a minus 7 this year, clearly under-performing. They sent Iwakuma to the hill against Wei-Yen Chen. After Seattle raced to a 3-0 lead after 4 innings, the heavens opened up to delay the game in the 5th for 68 minutes. Play resumed for one inning, and then another deluge delayed the game 111 minutes. At this point, a 3-0 play-in game became a battle of the bullpens the rest of the way. But Baltimore managed a measly 5 hits for the game and limped away from the playoffs with a 3-0 loss. The game now sets up a Mariners/Twins play-in game in the AL and the Reds/Marlins in the NL. With such a convoluted end to the season, it is very gratifying that the game was able to handle the events beautifully. What a fantastic game you have built Markus that accounts for endless fun and time away from my family!

Who got home field for each game, and what were the teams' head-to-head records against each other?
I need to check to see if the assigned matchups and home fields were correct. |

![]() I have simmed ahead and now I am nearing the end of the 2017 season. Is there an easy way to find head-2-head records from 3 seasons ago in-game? The White Sox were the home team when facing the Mariners. LA was the home team when facing the O's. Seattle then travelled to Baltimore while Washington was in Miami. I don't quite remember the rest off the top of my head though. If you can point me in the direction of finding their past head-2-head records though, I will be happy to give you the rest of the information.

"I don't find this exciting. It just goes to show there are a lot of flawed teams out there these days. Parity means mediocrity in my opinion."
