trying to do my own expansion; can't figure out an easy way. please help!
I want to run a realistic expansion (teams protect 15, then lose 1 player each, then protect 3 more, then lose another, etc). Obviously, the engine doesn't do this. so, this was what I wanted to do:
1. Run a report of players on each team with more than 2 years experience (or over age 19, lets say); dump it to excel. 2. Setup to do an expansion draft; allow each team to protect 15 players. export those expansion lists and compare them to my report...color them red 3. Setup to do expansion again, allow each team to protect 19 players. Isolate the 4 extra protected players by team, color them yellow 4. Do it again, protecting 23, color the extra 4 green So, for the first round, each team selects 1 player per team from the yellow list. round 2 is from the green list...i would then have to do 1 more time. PROBLEM: I can't even get the report of players per team to export properly. I am going from league - show all players. I'm keeping my list under 1000, my preferences are set to scroll, but I still get 1 page at a time. When I go to manager options and try to build a player shortlist, it does not work. Any ideas? In a game this advanced, realistic expansion should be simple!! |

Good luck. I can never get the AI to protect any number of players besides 15 no matter what or when I do it.

I see a flaw in your system. The yellow group would be the players that each existing team ranks as #16, 17, 18, 19 in their organization. So, let's say that the Cardinals consider X, Y, Z and ZA to be #16-19 in their organization. But, let's say that the I'm the GM of an expansion team that I consider ZB to be #16. So, I would want to select ZB as 1st round pick. Your system only accesses how the existing team evaluates its players, it doesn't access how an expansion team might evaulate them.
I also know how you can do this-- 1) Using a copy of your league, hold an expansion draft. Each team protects 15 players and each team can only lose 1 player. 2) After the 1st go around for the draft, write down on paper, or type into Excel, the players each team lost. 3) Make another copy of the league. Make sure this copy is a copy of the original league and is before any expansion drafting. 4) Expand the league. This time, set the settings for each team protects 18 players and each team can only lose 1 player. 5) After the new expansion teams are created, then immediately go into each team, go to each player who was drafted and use the editor to change his team to the expansion team that selected him. You do need to be in commissioner mode to do this. 6) Hold the expansion draft. Once again, either write down each team's 2nd round draftees or type them into Excel. 7) Make another copy of the league. Make sure this copy is a copy of the original league and is before any expansion drafting. 8) Expand the league. This time, set the settings for each team protects 21 players and each team can only lose 1 player. 9) After the new expansion teams are created, then immediately go into each team, go to each player who has already been drafted and use the editor to change his team to the expansion team that selected him. You do need to be in commissioner mode to do this. 10) Hold the expansion draft. Then, when the draft is over and the new expansion teams are created, they will have the players they already had from the 1st 2 times the expansion draft was run, as well as the final time.
