What's Your Story?

What background story do you give you as the GM, MGR, player, etc.
Do you rule your team with an irin fist while your family treats you like dirt? Are you so committed to your team that in OOTP life you have been married 3 times? Just seeing if I am beginning to lose my mind in part thanx to OOTP.
I have had my background story that I use in my EBL vs MLB thread since the mid 90's and it has just evolved.
Here is part of mine:

So whats's your story?

No background story for my modern league, but for my historical league, it could best be summarized as:

Somebody on my main baseball board asked what we would do if we could go back in time with modern day knowledge (including player performance) and become the GM of any team in baseball history, what team would it be? Hence, the Quantum Leap scenario.

Heh, good question. Here's my story, briefly:
  • At first, my wife used to nag me about how much time I spend on the computer. However, when she finally realized that 80% of this time I spend on such an intellectual pursuit as OOTPB, rather than surfing the 'net for porn, she seemed to relent (or become resigned).
  • I always project myself into the game and I build a family dynasty over time. That is, every 20-25 years or so, another "Bru" [using my nickname here] arrives. It goes like this: Bru; Bru, Jr.; Bru III; and Bru IV for the first century or so.

I do something like that in my History of the White Sox league. Most of my family is associated with the White Sox from 1901 - 2050. I am in 1922 when my great great grandpa comes in as a clone of Ray Schalk.

Schalk's career batting average of .253 is the lowest of any position player in the Hall of Fame. That he was selected by the Veterans Committee for enshrinement in 1955 is largely a tribute to his outstanding defensive skills and to the fact that he played to win the infamous 1919 World Series for the White Sox.
Sounds like one of the loveable catchers that my Bru's (me, junior, III, etc.) favor and grow old with.

Most of the time I make my backstory be that the team is owned by family, and I was put in charge of the on the field product. I usually change the name of the owner to one of my uncles names.
