Why not two random teams from different years against each other?
I know the premise of the game, blah, blah, blah . . . it's supposed to simulate building an organization, etc.
But why not allow an option to pit two teams from different years against each other (i.e., the 1969 Mets versus the 1986 Tigers)? With all this game does, such an option would seem easy to implement, and it would add another fun dimension to the game. It makes no sense to not include it. |

I'm pretty sure this is something you can do if you want to, there's just no "wizard" to walk you through the process. I don't have my copy in front of me right now so I can't remember exactly where you have to go to import historical teams manually, but I'm fairly certain I've heard about people doing this before.

Not so easy
I know it seems as if it would be easy, but I have tried it for two days and cannot get it to setup correctly . . .

First, decide if you want to mix in fictional players and teams or keep your league strictly historical. Then decide if you only want to play out one year or keep going. Beyond one year's play, you'll have to choose an historical league, its base year, and schedule rookie drafts each year. Set up your league. A fictional one requires you to state how many teams, divisions, and leagues you want. When the AI is done: Click on GAME on top of the screen. Under ADVANCED, click on Setup & Options. Now toward the top, click on LEAGUE SETUP. Next, in the middle column, hit Edit League Structure. On the final screen, you'll see for each division an option to "Import Hist. Team". And away you go to your heart's content. |

Thanks for the info
Canaveral,
Thanks for the info . . . I will hopefully put it to good use . . . It still seems, however, that a simple option to match two teams from different years, without going through all of the steps you described, would be helpful, useful and preferable . . . |

Except that OOTP is a league-based game.

Nope. Facts. Look at how the game works before being dismissive.

Start with the Historical MLB 1969 season.
Add League-Historical MLB 1986 season. Move teams to either league, then delete league with no teams remaining. I do this all the time. I cherry pick players from certain seasons (putting them on fictional teams), When the historical teams run out of players,I delete the league. |

To the OP - make sure you regenerate your schedule after you add or remove teams. |

Who was being dismissive? The OP and you. I'm stating a fact, and you're both trying to blow it off.

I think if you go back and read the thread from the beginning you'll see where the nastiness started. It may not be how you play the game, but it's certainly possible to do, which I was pointing out.

I stated a fact and got snarked at twice. As usual, I get snarked at, but if I respond then I'm the bad guy. You've misjudged everything, as usual.

This isn't dismissive and snarky? Right.

Snark II. I post a fact and get accused of being dismissive.

It's how you come at people Wolf. I agree with you but it could have been said a different way.
George you can set up a mixed league in under 30 minutes if you know what you want to do and how to do it. I have 1 league that is some of the best White Sox teams vs the best Cubs teams. Took me 30 minutes not counting ballparks and uniforms. I also had a mixed league of the best Cardinals, Cubs, White Sox, A's, Royals, Mets, Blue Jays & Pirates that took me 10 mins not counting compiling the list of who to put on which team. It was Kev24Fan's and my favorite players from each team. It's simple especially now with uniform and logo folders and importing .prk files to setup leagues of any style.
