Historical game: Retire player in actual year

Can't uncheck it. Would like players to retire whenever they want not when they did in the past. Will this be unlocked eventually or is this a bug?

Just bought the game, enjoy my 40 bucks.

Here's what JeffR said in the Historical Play overview (Aug 13):

B. Player development and retirement

At the moment, we're forcing the use of the "historical retirement" and "recalculate before each season" options, so the player's real-life final pro season is also his final in-game season. That restriction will be removed soon, to allow you to use the same systems as the regular game, allowing much more variable player careers.

So, probably the next update should allow this.

awesome! I figured it would be removed, but I wasn't sure if it was a bug or if it just hasn't been enabled yet.

This still exist in the new patch. It really takes a lot away from playing Historical what if games.

I wanted it changed for this patch, but the problem was getting it tested properly with the new development system. That took quite a while to get stabilized, and didn't leave enough time to get the freeform development and retirement tested for historical play. I also need to complete the aging ratings in the historical database to get those players to develop at semi-realistic rates. So hopefully in the next patch, it's waited long enough.
