name suggestion for Puerto Rico...
In my somewhat historical sim, my International League Havana Sugar Kings - who in real life relocated to Jersey City in 1960 - will be relocating to Puerto Rico. I'm looking for nickname suggestions... And then at some point several years later, I'm thinking of renaming the team the Caribbean (somethings), with the idea that they'd be representing both PR and the Dominican Republic... Whichever name is chosen for Puerto Rico may still work at that point, or may not... Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. |

I briefly worked with a guy who was from Puerto Rico... and he sometimes wore a hat with this logo into work on casual Fridays...
![]() The team name is Cangrejeros de Santurce... and if my recollection of high school Spanish servers me correctly.. cangrejo is a crab and a cangrejeros is a man who gets crabs. Whoa... that sounded bad... ummm whatever the term is in English for a fisherman who catches crabs. Damn.. that did not make things any better... Anyways, you get the idea. Always loved the logo... so there is my suggestion. No idea how old this actual team is or if it existed during the time of your historical sim... I know PR baseball has been around forever. |

Crabmen or crabbers, depending on your region.

I have no idea if I live in the right region or not... but I'm going with Crabbers... Crabmen just sounds like something out of a bad 50's horror flick.

I'm about to add a PR team as my 36th MLB franchise. I went with Fruit Bats as there are many unique to the island. I also strongly considered Dolphins and Boricuas (a self-identifying term for Puerto Ricans also once used as an entry to the old Inter-American minor league).
