Can't offer contracts, HELP!

My financials are in order, I have 5.8M for free agents, but it is international signing day and I can't offer deals! For some reason it seems my financials are frozen. I have the best record in the league and my owner is ecstatic, help me! I'd love to be able to offer some guys some deals!

Hey padresgm,

I've never done international signings. Is it possible that you've maxed out your draft expenses/budget, and is it possible that the international signing bonuses come out of the same pool of money as draft pick signings?

I could be way off base - like I said, I've never done international FAs and I only recently started doing drafts (used to have historical rookies import to their teams automatically), but that's the only theory I can think of.

Hopefully someone else can provide more help.

No, I don't think so. I actually didn't sign a couple of my picks this year and all my picks were super cheap.

Not quite. There's a "soft cap", as it were, which by default is $3 mil. As you go over the cap, there's a sort of luxury tax added on to the point that you're paying a huge penalty on every dollar above the cap. That's probably what's happening to Padre. He is offering $5mil, but $2mil of that is being taxed another 50%(?)--I think is the max, but I don't have the game open now--so the contract is actually $6mil and he doesn't have the money.

Also if you spend more than the soft cap one year, the next year you have a much lower limit and, I think, it becomes a hard cap. That could also be occuring.

EDIT: Didn't see the second picture the first time. Since he can't even sign someone for a dollar, I think he spent too much last year and is barred from signing any this year, but I could be incorrect on that.

This is the first year in this league since the switch to '14, so the first time that we have had a pool. I didn't go over, and I have no contracts out.

This is probably the case. Even though there was no last year, there are last year numbers created by the game through some mystical means, that are used in these calculations. I've run into it myself with exactly these results. I would like to say there's an easy solution and/or explanation.

Looks to me like you are out of cash. You have a potential budget room of $5.8 million, but no cash on hand.

my first thought was cash but I thought there had to be more than that .... however what he could do is turn commissioner mode on and override this

We had it as cash last sim but moved it over to budget. I'm really confused

I can't offer any deals including free agents, but I can offer extensions.

It is an online league. I will see if the commissioner will help.

Did you max out your allowances from the previous year? Meaning you can only offer X amount on international free agents this year?

There was no previous year, and I can't offer deals to regular free agents either.
