Issue I have never seen before or have seen on this forum

I have been playing since OOTP7 and have had no issues with this new version until 2 days ago. When I start the game and switch screens/menus my screen turns black. I am running Windows 8 with full screeen and have to press the windows button, then select the OOTP tile and the game picks up where I left off. The game I am simulating continues to run so it doesn't pause. If I were to run the game in windowed mode I have no issue.

Any ideas or has anybody seen this?

ok, it seems I have narrowed it down to the beta patch. I un-istalled the game but kept the game files. Re-installed and updated using the last official patch and I am not having any problems. The only minor one I guess would be the player photo's don't appear in game anymore with my saved game. Any remedy for that of am I SOL unless I start a new game?

I had the same problems. I just did a reinstall and left out the patch. It's working ok now. [Fingers crossed]

Same problem for me, didn't install the beta patch....downloaded most recent Windows patch yesterday and encountered the black screen problem. Doesn't seem to happen with windowed, only full screen. I've not un-installed/re-installed yet....was waiting to see if I was the only one with this problem!!

Player photos not showing doesn't makes sense, however you should be able to get those back by going to your saved game's news\html\images\person_pictures & profile_pictures folders and delete everything not starting with default (make a backup of the 2 folders first just in case). Restart ootp and the photos will be auto recreated and should show up now (depending on your picture options settings of course).

I'm having the same problem on Windows 8. I just press the windows key, reopen OOTP and everything is as it should be. As others have mentioned this only happens in full screen mode.

I was going to report this to tech support myself if it wasn't just me. Thanks for doing it.

B.R. I'll do what you suggest and see if it works. I don't know the inner workings of OOTP like a lot of people on this forum but I thought backing up my saved game would have kept the player photos. At this point they are all facegen.

bigrod....I did what you said. had my league backed up before the issue with the black screen. Deleted everything in the folders you mentioned, leaving the ones with default alone and still all my player photos are facegen. Not a big issue. I am guessing it's my settings for player photos. Suggestion on what me settings should be and I will try again?

got my player photos back. Can't use the official new update though (black screen) but I am sure that will be resolved soon.
