Need Help With League Naming
So I am working on a fictional game (West Coast Baseball League), but need some help with League & Division names as well as team nicknames...
League Set-Up: Northern League: (Division 1) 1-Boise 2-Meridian 3-Portland 4-Salem (Division 2) 1-Corvallis 2-Eugene 3-Fresno 4-Sacramento Southern League: (Division 1) 1-Glendale 2-Provo 3-Salt Lake City 4-Tempe (Division 2) 1-Henderson 2-Las Vegas 3-Reno 4-Santa Fe Also, trying to figure out the best schedule length. (I likely won't be expanding anytime in the near future) |

Northern League:
Division Boise Pioneers (Historical Society of Idaho Pioneers was formed in Boise) Meridian Hunters (first name of Meridian) Meridian Farmers (town first established on Onweiler Farm) Portland Stumps (Portland started as a place called Stumptown) Portland Pennies (The name Portland was decide on by the toss of a coin, the coin is called the Portland Penny and is in the headquarters of the Oregon Historical Society) Salem Millers (First known as The Mill because it's situation at Mill Creek) Salem Cherries (Salem is nicknamed Cherry City) I was at a bit of a loss for Boise. Division Corvallis Trappers (First named Marysville thought to be derived from French fur trappers naming of Marys Peak) Corvallis Hearts (Corvallis is latin for Heart of the Valley) Eugene Skinners Eugene Traders (Both named down to Eugene Skinner who it's named after and Traders as he started a trading post there) Fresno Wheat Farmers (Built canals and such to grow wheat in it's early history) Sacramento Oaks Sacramento Cottonwoods Sacramento Grapes (All down to Gabriel Moraga who discovered the Sacramento Valley and wrote about oaks, cottonwoods and grapes) I kind of look at the historical stuff of places, if you want flashy new names then I'm probably not the one to help. |

Southern League
Glendale Gabrieleños (Spanish name for the people who lived there first) Provo Missions (Father Escalante said to be first European to visit the area) Salt Lake City Mormons (Obvious name) Salt Lake City Mountainmen Salt Lake City Trappers (Both names down to Jim Bridger being the American to visit the area) Tempe Ferrymen (Haydens Ferry was one of two settlements that started Tempe) Division Henderson Miracles (I'm thinking Henderson, Nevada? If not this means nothing. Henderson was main supplier of magnesium nicknamed the miracle metal) Las Vegas Miners (Staging point for mines within the Las vegas area) Las Vegas Mobsters (Obvious) Las Vegas Pioneers (Stopover for pioneers) Reno Travelers Reno Trailriders (Early business was down to the travelers using the California Trail) Reno Miners (Both gold and silver was found round Reno) Santa Fe Independence (Mexican War of Independence) Santa Fe Republics (Republic of Texas claimed Santa Fe in 1836) Santa fe Trailriders (Santa Fe Trail) |
