Manager Lineups: Reduce Impact of vs LHP and vs RHP #s??

Is there a way to reduce the managers reliance on vs RHP or vs LHP when setting a lineup? I have guys that should be everyday players being benched far too often.

I don't think there is other than the Saber vs Traditional settings (I would use Traditional)

This used to kill me in last year's game but I think its much better this year.

Anyone else have any ideas?

For instance, I have Lucas Duda of the NYM.

He starts vs RHP but sits vs LHP for Valdespin. This year, Duda is hitting 7/22 against LHP. Instead, Valdespin is hitting 5/43 against LHP.

Duda also sports better ratings across the board against LHP compared to Valdespin.

Why do they insist on putting in Valdespin?

The force start feature should be improved to apply to pitcher handedness. That way you can force a player against the platooning.

Not making excuses but Markus walks a fine line in the strategy side. I'd be posting a complaint if managers weren't platooning enough. The AI is set to find the optimum batting order without taking reality or baseball sense into consideration. That's why you see players playing different positions vs LHP and RHP. IRL this does not happen regularly except in Tampa and maybe one or two other teams. It's rare to see SS 2B platoons (except Tampa) in MLB.

That being said the sabre vs traditional setting isn't enough. We should be able to use a sliding scale from "always platoon" to "never platoon". I would be closer to never platoon but start specific players according to my logic.

The AI is simply looking at the left/right matchup ratings, and then determining the optimum lineup accordingly.

Trade for every LHP in the league and stash them in your minors. Then you'll only face RHP.

Why not put your better players as the starters vs LHP as well, but set them to sit every 2nd game? Or (depending on your sim schedule) make use of the 7-day lineups to pick and choose who starts on any given day.
