To start the challenge I am going to start with the Prates out of the box and not make any changes for now til i see where my weaknesses are at.

By the by, I don't believe shortlists carry over. Just let me know what players you had shortlisted and I'll add them in myself.

Why wouldn't they since you are the same GM I am? and it was saved like that. Let me know if you need them.

Not looking good. Stats wise no one on the staff is really bad, offensively we are struggling to score runs and injuries to Andrew McCutcheon and Neil Walker have hurt. i 'll post lineups & staff in a bit. I traded Presley for Andino because Barmes is hitting like .150 or so. Hurdle did not put Andino in as the starter though.

Alright, contrary to The Game, I'm going to be making some moves before the start of the season:
We need pitching help. Especially long relief. To that end, I extended an offer to free agent starter Roy Oswalt. Being able to move one of our starters into the pen will be very useful. I also sent backup infielder John McDonald down to AAA. Luckily, he accepted the assignment (at 38 years old, he naturally has the right to refuse it), and called up in his place is the younger and faster Jordy Mercer. Other than that, though, I'm standing pat. Here we go. |

Frye are you setting lineups & rotation? With the fact that my team sucks and players are struggling. I am going to take control for May and see if we improve. Also are you playing your games or simming? I played 2 games. The season opener vs CHC and the 1st game vs STL. I won both.

I may have gotten over on the AI on this. Liriano just gave up 8 ER in 5.1 IP and has given up 24 Hits in 6.2 IP since coming off the DL. Barmes opens up for Inge to come up. Karstens was sucking. Marte is being sent to AAA. Sappelt will take over in CF. Fan interest decreased alot.

...And, ironically, Barmes gets a pinch-hit, walk-off single to win the opener against Chicago, 3-2. Good way to start! |

I dunno what the difference is, but we've already got more than half the wins that Game's Pirates have, and we're only a week into the season (I figure I'll give weekly updates).
EDIT: Oh wait, Game, McCutchen was on the DL for you, wasn't he? That MIGHT have been a factor... ![]() ![]() It's us and the Brewers atop the NL Central. I know we've got a long, long way to go, but a 5-1 start is music to my ears. ...Ears? Eyes? Some kind of sensory organ, anyway. ![]() Andrew McCutchen is lighting everyone up, and I'm legitimately shocked that he did not receive player of the week honors. I MEAN LOOK AT THAT OPS. ![]() Our pitching staff, however, is the main reason we've won 5 out of 6. Oswalt got knocked around a bit in his debut, but for the most part, everyone's performed pretty well. We had a 13-inning win against the Dodgers in which the 'pen held LA to 7 scoreless innings, after coming back from a 4-0 deficit. Chris Leroux is out for a couple days with back spasms, but it shouldn't be much to worry about. Looking good so far; if it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I won't be making any roster changes just yet. Last edited by Fyrestorm3; 07-23-2013 at 03:00 AM. |

If McCutch would hit for me it would help improve my team dramatically. Since the Garza trade we are 6-5. Had a walk off BB vs the Brewers. I played that game out and I will play all divisional games of team that are above me in the standings. Our team batting avg is .213. McCutch is hitting .223 3 HR 9 RBI but is hitting .330 2 HR 6 RBI with RISP. HUH? so there is promise there. This team strikes out way too much and I cannot figure out how they have been this good IRL. Let's see where you stand at the end of April.
