Question about 7-day lineups, in online leagues: I gather this lets you set exactly who bats in what position, which would eliminate the leadoff problem I mention above. (Right?) And I get that you're supposed to set your leadoff based on anticipated starters for the coming week. But what if the opposing team moves starters around unexpectedly, so that you're facing a LHP on the day you expected a righty, or vice-versa? Do the 7-day lineups react to that? The manual says "allow use of alternative lineup" can deal with this situation. Does it work well in practice?
Generally yes. One thing can muck up your 7-day lineup. If you have a setting that alerts you to injuries or some other event such as a DL player being ready, you must finish the day and check that the SP are in sequence before simming. Occasionally the lineups and SP get shifted and that's when you see bizarre lineups.

What I like about using 7-day is that I can slot subs into specific slots and days while knowing that it will happen. What I'd really like is a duplicate 7-day lineup below the current one that would be used as your substitute clipboard. This would not get overwritten when you click on the button to fill the lineups automatically.

One other note, if you make a change in the original lineup page (tab) you have to reset the depth chart. If not the AI will not give you the expected subs in- game.

Thanks for your reply, Rch; very helpful.

I'll experiment with it in a single-player league. Right now I'm mostly playing online, so unfortunately I can't intervene if there's an injury mid-week. Which makes me worry that maybe it's a bit risky to use 7-day lineups online.

I assume you're still referring to 7-day lineups, right? And I'm not sure how to "reset" the depth chart. You mean, just alter it so that it's consistent with your starting lineup?

I'd still use them but you do have to accept that an injury mid week may result in some lineup juggling you don't like.

No. The 7-day lineups come from the lineups tab on the team page. See below. You typically fill the 7-day screen from the lineup tab by clicking auto fill. I suppose you could create lineups manually in the 7-day screen but I never considered that practical. So if you make a change in the lineup tab screen and auto fill without generating depth charts you will not get the expected in-game subs. Note the screen shot is from v12 but the detail is still correct.

I would argue it should be "force player in vs. Left" or "force player in vs. right"

I'll take both options, please.
