Question About Fictional League

I'm setting up a 24-team fictional league. For the minor leagues themselves, do you think it's necessary to have their league totals set lower than the default? For example, the Double-A league the league totals are:

At-Bats: 87960
Hits: 23392
Doubles: 4654
Triples: 593
HR: 2107
BB: 9239
HBP: 1111
Strikeouts: 17992

Those are essentially the same league totals for each minor league system. I just don't think it would be realistic to have those be the same league totals for say Short-Season A and Rookie ball considering they don't play til June.

If I want to change them, how should I go about figuring out what to set the league totals at?

The absolute value of the league totals doesn't matter. It's the relative value that's important. This is also why you don't need to edit the totals for different league sizes.

I know some people have the urge to tinker no matter what, but I'd suggest testing your league to see if even need to change anything before you mess around with the totals. It's probably fine as-is.

Should I have the League Total Modifiers be at 1.000 default for all the minor leagues then?

Leave the league totals modifiers alone for all of your leagues. Leave them at the defaults. Do not change them in any way. OOTP handles all the rest and adjusts everything according to the size of your leagues.

Klew what are you trying to accomplish if you were to change them? I use historical years for my league. Started with 1973 now in 1978. While yes I have had 1 guy win 3 Triple Crowns and 3 players hit over .400 having only 12 teams when MLB was at 24 then 26 I can't complain. In my ABF 16 team league I started with 2000 and am now at 2010 18 teams and have had no .400 hitters and only one 50 HR guy.

So I set all the minor league League Total Modifiers to 1.000 (default) and unchecked the "adjust league totals for accuracy" and it still changed the league total modifiers for all the minor leagues after simming.

I don't understand what you're trying to do. If you are just setting up a default modern fictional league, you really shouldn't have to mess with any of that stuff. It's pretty much fine out of the box.

That's the thing. I'm not trying to mess with anything at all. I just happened to go look at the League Totals and Modifiers. I picked a few minor leagues at random to look at and they weren't at the default 1.000, even though the "Automatically adjust league total modifiers for accuracy" is unchecked.

I can't give you the explanation why those totals are set where they are, all I can say is that it has been that way since I began playing this game about 10 versions ago!

As others have said, it's best to leave everything alone. Performances in the minors are represented very well and calibrated to the appropriate level, in my experience.

This is likely because the totals for those leagues vary from MLB, which is always used as the core basis for the game engine. So OOTP probably sets those modifiers differently to account for the differences compared to MLB stats and length of schedule.
