				Sunday Morning Sports Section

So, once again, a doubleheader with the Reds on two consecutive Sunday's. My hitters are starting to come around as I have solidified my batting order. Santo is really not a true lead off guy from a speed standpoint but he's smart ballplayer and maximizes his opportunities.

My pitching staff has been a pleasant surprise overall. My record attests to this. I do monitor their rest now since I've seen the AI put a tired reliever on the hill when his rested counterpart should have pitched. It has really cut down on the injuries. Anyway, the Sunday Morning Sports back page: |

Cubs Take 2 As Hunter Shines

I can't say enough about the performance of SP Broderick Hunter. The 12 inning marathon in the first game left me with only two pitchers for the second game: Hunter and Denny McLain in relief. Not only did he pitch well, he 4 hit the first place Reds over 8 innings for the shutout.

My Cubs are now in first place! I'm also maintaining my second place position in the power polls. |

Just a quick note to let you know I am still reading, and loving this one. You've done a great job with the format. It's nice to see the daily box scores in a dynasty that focuses on game-by-game outcomes.

Orcin, hearing that from a veteran like you is a compliment worth keeping in my back pocket. Thank-you! Last edited by SurfRat61; 07-15-2013 at 01:59 PM. |

Mets Miscues Plus Cubs Bullpen Equals Win

Nice win as I am quickly learning that the one-two punch of Murakami and McDaniel out of the pen to protect a lead usually leads to a 'W'.

My hitters all seem to step up at the right time including Hansen. For the most part, non-existent on offense but when Durocher needs that critical hit, "scoop" delivers. I hear Mart plans on taking the train down to catch the game on Thursday. It will be interesting to listen to what he has to tell Solly this Sunday morning. |

A question for fans of the 60's?

Although I hope to rewrite Cubs history, that doesn't stop me from reporting on other games in the year. For fans, (my season ticket holders to the thread) the question is what teams would you occasionally like to see a box score on?

Even though I'm a loyal Cubs fan, I first cut my teeth with baseball growing up in Minneapolis for a short spell, so I've always been a Twins fan in the AL, which makes this year all the more enticing to me! Is there a stat or a leaderboard you'd like to see? Maybe a particular team's stats? A player? The thread may be about Cubs but I go through the trouble of posting it for those of you that follow the era so input is always welcome. |
