Turbo Baseball - A new daily-sim league is recruting GMs!

Welcome to Turbo Baseball!

Turbo baseball is a small, fictional online OOTP league featuring daily sims of 7 in-game days each. Daily sims will allow us to, on average, complete one season per month in real time, which gives GMs a better opportunity to create a lasting dynasty, or rebuild from the ground up if their team is struggling.

Here are the rules that the Turbo Baseball Association will be using. Anything not listed will be set to default:

Game Options/Settings

League Starting Year: 2013
Use Complete Scouting System: Disabled
Use Complete Coaching System: Disabled
Suspensions: Disabled
Drug Suspensions: Disabled
Injury Frequency: Normal
All rating/potential scales: 1-5
Designated hitter rule: Disabled in both leagues
Allow Draft Pick Trading: Enabled
Salary Cap: $100,000,000 hard cap (may be modified slightly)
Cash Maximum: $20,000,000 (may be modified slightly)
National Media Contract Fixed: Yes, same contract for every team
Average Local Media Contract: $25,000,000
Revenue Sharing: Disabled

League Structure

Single division of 10 teams
162-game regular season, each team plays each other team 18 games (9 home, 9 away)
Division winner gets a bye in the 1st round of the playoffs
2nd- and 3rd-place teams play a best-of-7 series to determine which team advances to the Championship Series
2nd-place team gets home field advantage in the 1st-round, and 1st-place team gets home field advantage in the Championship Series
Championship series is a grueling best-of-9

Interested?

I'm looking to create a small, long-lasting, tight-knit community here. I'm looking for dedicated, friendly, reliable GMs. If you don't think you'll be able to commit to a daily sim league, then Turbo Baseball may not be for you. Of course, if you miss the odd export here and there, it's no big deal, but if you continually miss exports you will be replaced. Also, the league will be switching to the new version of OOTP Baseball each year, but not immediately upon the game's release. We'll likely wait a few months for most of the release bugs to be squashed before importing the league into the new version. All GMs in the Turbo Baseball Association will also need to upgrade their version of the game.

Inaugural Draft

The first 7 rounds of the draft will take place on the forums. Each GM will receive a 30-minute time slot each day when their pick is due. Drafting will take place between the hours of 7:00pm and 11:30pm Eastern Time each night until the completion of the 7th-round. If your pick is not posted in time, I will auto-pick for you. In case of emergency you can send me a list and I will pick for you accordingly.

Following the completion of the 7th-round of drafting, we'll schedule a live draft to be held in an IRC chatroom that I'll be adding to the website within the next few days. This live draft will be held at 7pm Eastern Time on the first Sunday after the completion of the 7th-round of drafting on the forums. Teams will be given 2-minute time slots for their picks, so make sure to have thoroughly developed draft lists before we start.

Application Questionnaire

If you'd like to apply to join the Turbo Baseball Association, then please reply on our forums and fill out the following questionnaire:

1. Name
2. Age
3. Location and timezone
4. How long have you been playing OOTP?
5. Please detail any previous experience you have with online leagues in OOTP, including any current commitments.
6. What about the Turbo Baseball Association appeals to you?
7. Would you have any difficulty being committed to the league and would you be able to regularly submit exports on a daily basis?

8. Lastly, please list what city and nickname you'd like your team to have. Also, if you have a logo in mind, feel free to post that as well. You can include a team city and nickname for just your major league club, or for as many of your minor-league affiliates as you'd like (Rookie League, Short-Season A, Single A, Double A, Triple A). Major league clubs can be from anywhere in North America that could realistically support a MLB franchise, minor league affiliates can be from any city in North America.

We've officially started the draft! One of our GMs had to leave due to family difficulties, so we're looking for one last GM to fill the opening.

It's currently the 1st-round of the draft, and if you're accepted, you get the next 2 picks because you pick last in the first round and first in the second round.
