MLB QuickStart
Created in OOTP 14 6 Feeder Leagues - 3 College, 3 High School Draft: 30 Rounds Generate Players for X Rounds: 35 I have noticed something recently that I tested out. In the year 2020 in my above listed league, I set the Draft Feeding Mode to just Feeder League. In that draft the number of players created was over 1100. I was seeing what other people describe that players that after the second round there really isn't anything left. There are only 2 pages of players that have at least 2 star potential. In my current year of 2021 I had decided to switch the setting to Feeder League + Additional Players. I made this change before Dec. 31st 2020. When the draft pool was created, there was 6230 players created. There is 8 pages of players that have at least 2 star potential. These players will be around much longer than the third round, hence the draft looks better. Since this is a major league quickstart and a 30 round draft, I only need 900 players in total. With the feeder leagues setup, I usually get about 1100 players a year for the draft. But the the Draft Feeding Mode setting changed to include additional players, players that I do not need based on my settings and the number of players coming from the feeder league, I get over 6000 players which will greatly increase my free agent class but at the same time make drafting more fun. I definitely think that people should pay close attention to their Draft Feeding Mode setting and see if we can determine if there is a pattern for the people who say that they are seeing great players passed the third round. Because after 8 drafts I can only say that I saw valid players after the third round this year and this year only with the setting that includes additional players and a total of over 6000 players included in the draft pool. |

The reason you don't understand my position is that you are spending a lot of time paraphrasing and twisting my words into something that sounds stupid. Maybe if you just went back and read my posts with an open mind, you would understand better. I'll twist what you said just to illustrate: It's rather insulting to say that I am too lazy to go through the effort of proper drafting. By the way, there was no "illusion" of good players. Drafted players developed into good players in OOTP13. I don't understand that comment. |

This is a matter of opinion. I have an imported league from 13 and I'm just fine with the "adjusted" draft pools created in 14. I'm very pleased that my league is no longer flooded with stud relievers, which was a common experience in 13.

Also not sure what I paraphrased from your last post. Maybe I did twist the laziness thing but that seemed to be what you were saying. And finally no they didn't. That was the whole point of the old system.

Let's stop trying to convince others why 13 or 14's draft pools were better and focus on something else. We already have opinions on why people like each one and we don't need to keep repeating them.

Poor talent in recent Draft Years

I would hardly call that "no known reason" Also do you think pot ratings should be static in the game? |

(I'm assuming you had enough feeder teams to meet your criteria to begin with.) Though now I'm confused by your story. You described a ~5,000 player difference before, not 700.

Poor talent in recent Draft Years
I ran into a flaw in my OOTP 13 draft when the option to use any league as a feeder was introduced. I used Nutt's NCAA mod as a feeder league using that option and all of my draft classes came out poor. I don't know if this is the same in 14 because I do not use any feeders.
Maybe some are experiencing that? |

And your confusion is part of the issue that I saw. Before the draft pool is generate it says that it will add 700 odd players plus all the players from the feeder league. But when the draft pool is generated the total amount of players in the pool is over 6000 players. But on the bright side, I do have 8 pages of 2 star or better potential players in my draft pool.

Is this thread seriously still going? Here's the answer: if the draft pool is dog sh*t, over time it will even itself out. You say the talent is "poor" but that is just a comparison to what ratings/players are currently in the league. And enough with "star ratings" - they mean almost nothing. Stats stats stats stats! Do these "poor talent" players end up hitting .198 for their career? Or have you not simmed that far? This thread has just become arguing. Let's move on. Let's take bets on how long it takes for a someone to ask about stats-only?
