Spring Training Stats
A question for the masses? Just had a reader of my thread ask me this and I really don't have an answer for him because it occurs in Spring training.
I have the computer simulating my games while I play strictly the GM. My starting pitchers are only pitching 4 innings per game yet getting credit for the win. Is this normal during Spring training? I never really thought about it because it is Spring but now I'm curious. Thanks in advance for the assist. |

Yea, in spring training the normal rules regarding wins are disregarded as it is commonplace for starters to go less than 5 innings due to the team wanting to use particular pitchers each day, as well as building endurance.

I might be wrong about this. But I always thought it was adjusted during spring training from 5 to 3 innings. If no one goes 3 complete innings, the win would go to whomever was the pitcher when the team went ahead.

Spring training rules permit the official scorer to determine who pitched most effectively and who therefore gets the win.
