The game crashes or stops responding when I click on New Major League game...any suggestions?

One thought comes immediately to mind: Are you giving it enough time to complete the process? Sometimes the game looks like it crashed but it's still processing; in this case, copying files.

What does the error message say?

If all you're seeing is a message that OOTP has stopped responding, ignore it and let the game run. It's processing data. This can be a quick, or long process, depending on the amount of data.

Eventually the game will respond again.

... yeah, one may have to wait, while the Game is processing data ...

This. OOTP is a big game with a lot of files. If you don't have a high-end computer, it may end up taking so long that the PC believes it's "stopped responding". Personally, I get this every once in a while during saves and league creation.

In fact, it's pretty much always a safe bet to give ANY program more time to finish what it's doing when Windows tells you it's not responding.

I'm quite familiar with OOTP. I've been playing it since the 1st one. So I kinda know when it's just taking a while. I've given it over a half hour. I don't get a error message it just stops responding. It doesn't happen with custom league. Just MLB as far as I know. Which is what I want to play OF COURSE!!! Lol

I also ran CHKDSK to no avail.

Now it hangs when I click on a add on file and it says its installing files.

Ok good news, I have it going. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked. So thanks to everyone who replied. I have a new problem now, which will be posted shortly. lol
