purchase question

I am about to purchase OOTP for the first time and have a few questions. I have downloaded and the demo of OOTP 13 and imported player pics, team logos, etc.

Question #1, Will I have to reload everything? I think it would be pretty easy if I have to but am just wondering. Am I correct in that once I get the game I need to download the all in one mod before I start a season - that way player pics, team logos, and league logos will automatically appear without me have to manually set each one up?

Question #2 Is is possible to bring the files from from 13 demo into the 14 game? I have started 2 leagues (MLB 1996, I am playing the Braves and MLB 2013, I am playing the Brewers).

Question #3 Can someone tell me about online leagues. I have played in online leagues with another company but we didn't do all that OOTP does. How does that work with other human managers? How do you go after free agents, and etc....I am confused how it will work.

Thanks for any help. I am sure I will have many more questions.

Sorry, I have no answers to 1 and 2.

3) Each manager is assigned to a team. There are related actions and screens that only that manager and the commish can do/access.
The manager DLs the league file and makes changes. Line ups, pitching staff, FA offers etc.
The commish runs the sim. Your league determines how long. 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, 1 year... etc.

The game produces the results. Game results, injuries, free agents signing or receiving another offer and coming back to you for more money etc.

I am not sure if this helps. If not be more specific.

OOTP14 has an import function for OOTP13 saves.

Yes, download and install the All-In-One mod BEFORE starting a new game, otherwise you'll have to manually load in every logo (you don't want to have to do that )

I think that answers all of your initial questions.

How do I import it? What does it look like once imported? For instance...players that I have traded for in 13 will still be on my team once imported into 14?

There's an option right on the start screen that says "Import OOTP13 League". Select that and it will prompt you to select the world.dat file from the league you want to load. Navigate to your OOTP13 folder > Saved games and you'll see a folder for each of your saved games. There should be a world.dat file inside each folder. Select it, and the game will do the rest.

Everything will be the same as the last time you saved that game, other than graphics (make sure you have the All-In-One already installed, to avoid doing it all manually). It's a seamless transition.

one more question (for now...ha)

I have noticed there have been some updates for v.14. Since I am purchasing after those updates do I still need to install the updates or is it sold as part of the game now? If I do have to purchase the updates do I have to do all the updates or just the latest ones? I appreciate all the feedback you guys have provided. I have been a life long customer of another company and feel like Im cheating on my wife doing this...not to mention all the learning to navigate a new game!

The installer will come with the latest patches already installed. Be advised a new patch is on the way and will be released soon.

And, as advised above, get the all in one mod downloaded and installed first thing, before you get serious. It's not perfect but it easily is the best slice sunshine you'll come across all day.

Infractions: 0/1 (1)
Start a dummy test league, then download and install the All-In-One mod, then start your real league.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.
