Rules Page

Signing Process

You can begin submitting bids for fighters (up to a maximum of 5). There is no minimum requirement for fighters, you can fill all 5 spots or only sign a single fighter to begin with. Just remember you need to keep money in reserve.

To submit a bid submit the fighters name to me via PM and the amount of your retainer bid. (I will post a list of all active fighters in a separate thread, but you can only bid on fighters ranked 0-1 right now)

Example Lenny Mancini - $45,000

Every 24 hours I will match the bid against the fighters minimum request (determined via random table with a dollar range matching the fighters rank) which will not be disclosed. If the bid is unsuccessful you will be notified by the fighter via message such as "I have received your offer and while close, it is not quite enough" or "Just what I am looking for, I am happy to join your gym"

Good luck, have fun!

Rules

You are the owner of a new Boxing management company and will be starting with a $100,000 stake and a prestige of 1.

Contracts

You will start off by offering a 1 year renewable retention contract to any fighter with a rating that is equal or lower to you prestige. What this means as a new manger is that you will be after either established journeyman types or new debuting fighters that are rated as beginners and therefore have not reached their prime rating.

Example - If a fighter has a 7 rating as prime, but is a beginner and currently rated as a 1, you will be able to submit an offer since his current rating matches your prestige. To make this easier I will post a list of fighters you can offer deals to initially once we start.

Once you sign a fighter you can renew him on a yearly basis for the same retention bonus as your initially signed him for, regardless of his rating at the end of the year. Therefore, it is important not to spend your entire stake signing fighters as they will not earn much money on the undercards their first couple of years and if you can not cover their yearly retention bonus you lose them.

The other way to lose a fighter is if another manager offers a higher retention at the end of the year and you can not or choose not to match it. The down side of this is the manager that steals the fighter loses a prestige point if that fighter joins his stable for being a 'dirty' manager.

In addition, if a fighters rating has increased due to moving to pre-prime/prime, the stealing manager must have a prestige level to match his rating at the time to steal him.

Each fighter also has a minimum offer he will accept for his current rating level (determined by a random greed table) and you must meet or exceed that number to secure his services in either the initial bid or in trying to steal a fighter.

If two managers bid on the same fighter he goes to the highest bidder. If the bid is equal he goes to the manager with the highest prestige. If still tied you must make another offer.

Maximum number of fighters in a stable is 5

Prestige

This is increased in two ways, reaching established tiers of money won by your fighters and winning belts. The table below shows the prestige increases for each accomplishment.

Earning levels (total career earnings)
$50,000 = 1 point
$100,000 = 1 point
$150,000 = 1 point
$200,000 = 1 point
$300,000 = 1 point
$400,000 = 1 point
$500,000 = 1 point
$750,000 = 1 point
$1,000,000 = 1 point
$1,500,000 = 1 point
$2,000,000 = 1 point
Starting at $3,000,000 you will earn 1 pint for every million dollars earned.

There will be 3 world titles (IBF, WBA, WBC) and you will earn 3 prestige points for every each fighter in you stable that wins a world title.

Losing prestige points - The only way for this to occur is to outbid a rival manager for the services of another fighter when their contract comes up for yearly renewal. To steal a fighter you must have a prestige level equal to the fighters current rating and meet his minimum asking price for that level.
Stealing a fighter that does not hold a title = minus 1 prestige point
Stealing a World Champion = minus 3 prestige points

Fights

When your fighter is eligible to fight you will receive an offer sheet with 3-5 prospective opponents and the position on the card (which, along with rating influences your purse) You will accept one of the fights and will be informed of your earnings after the card via deposit slip. For simplicity sake, the entire purse goes to the manager's bank account

Fight results and other stories will be printed in a monthly update (The Fistania Gazette)

Each new fighter will fight on the local circuit until they reach prime and will fight fictional tomato cans to that point.

Once on the world circuit offers will be made from a pool of fighters either 10 spots higher or lower in the rankings, based on opponent eligibility to fight.

Depending on the result of a fight, your fighter will then have to take XX amount of time off to recover. The amount of time is based on the results, with an unfavorable result resulting in a longer layoff.

Factors are
Injury in fight
KO/TKO loss
Cut/Knockdown suffered
Win in 6+ rounds
Win in 5 rounds or less

The inactive days are a random number within each category and the hierarchy goes from the too down.

Example = Your fighters scores a 3rd round KO, but is knocked down himself. His time inactive will be based on the Cut/Knockdown suffered tier since it is higher than the win in 5 rounds or less tier.

Your stable roster will have the next date each fighter is available to fight.

Random events

As in RL fighters may get hurt training or in the ring and also be involved in out of the ring drama.

Each month every fighter will be checked for a random event/injury and while the chances of either are small, they will happen from time to time. If an injury/event occurs, it will be reported in the monthly newspaper summary and if it affects the amount of time a fighter is inactive, your stable roster will be updated.

The world

This is a lightweight universe and is already established when you debut. The universe starts in January of 1980 and is random debut, so fighters from all different eras are present.

This covers the main drivers of the universe, let me know if any questions and as things not accounted for come up I will institute rules/guidelines as needed, but I think this covers everything.

All I need now is the name of each of your four management companies.

Three Rivers Fight Club - Attention DJ Green
Hey DJ,
Sammy Smith here, received your offer and while it is a really nice offer, I am looking for just a bit more. Afterall, I am going to be training in Pittsburgh and well, being a Philly kid I am close to home, which I like, but I have also been in Pennsylvania my whole life. So.....If you can boost your offer a little higher it would make staying in the quaker state look a little bit better.

Let me know, Sammy

Hey again DJ
You don't mess around man, that last offer was big time! Tell you what, I'm gonna sleep on it, but it is a pretty safe bet you'll have your first fighter in the bag tomorrow. I'll let you know first thing, but I'm pretty stoked right now dude!
Later - Sammy

Good Morning Boss
Got a phone call this morning from Richie Mitchell, he wants you to give him a call but he did say he was going to accept you offer. Congratulations, we have our first fighter!!

Rob Morris - C/O Eastham Kronk
Dear Mr. Morris
I have reviewed your contract offer and while I am willing to sign for what I consider to be a below market value because I like you, your current offer is a bit too low. Would really feel better if you can add a couple of thousand and we can talk further.
Hope to hear from you soon - Danny Webb

Triple B Gym - Memo
While you were out
Phone was ringing off the hook Bob, got calls from three fighters while you were out for a jog. Billy Edwards and Charles Norton are both happy with your offer and said they would sign by tomorrow unless they received something better. Bob Turner said he was interested, but would like a little bit more, since he has to relocate from Australia. He asked you to give him a call back when you have a chance. I will be cleaning the locker room if you need me.

Dear Mr. Morris
I am happy to say your latest offer is acceptable and if nothing else pops up in the next 24 hours I will be signing
Have a great day - Danny Webb

Mr. Morris, Peter Daly here
I don't know what you are thinking, but there is no way I am signing for the offer you just sent me. Maybe you don't fully appreciate my talent, but you better send something more sensible if you want to continue negotiations, because that first offer is an insult.

Try again, Peter

Bob Bask enters his office and sees the light blinking on his message machine.

Bob pushes the button and hears a voice he had hoped to hear.

Beeeeep

"Mr. Bask, good morning, this is Bob Turner, got your message mate and I am happy to say I like it. Off to pack me kit and if I don't get a better offer by the end of the day I will be flying to London as soon as possible."

"Looking forward to being a Brit Boy Mate, g'day."

While you were out

Mr. Morris, Danny Webb called and will be by in the morning to sign his contract. Also got a call from some jerk named Peter Daly and he said he would listen to one more offer and it needed to be much more attractive than the last one, otherwise he was walking. Sounds like a real winner!
