Setting sensible computer lineups and rotations.

I am replaying 1980's seasons and am baffled by how bad some of the lineups the computer sets are. Things that you'd never see in real baseball, such as Andres Galarraga batting leadoff, or Joe Carter batting 8th. The computer also loves to take his best starting pitcher and exile him to the bullpen on September 1st. I've learned to expect this, and have to take the time to go back through and manipulate the computer into keeping 15 game winners in the rotation and not replacing them with obviously inferior players. I don't want to have to disable roster moves entirely, because that would force me to spend far too much time managing the computer rosters, but some sort of method to keep them from this kind of stupidity would be appreciated.
