What's The Point of 'Confirm Subsitutions'?

This obviously doesn't work. I have the boxed checked, but the game NEVER asks me to confirm a lineup change that I've made.

This just burned me because I accidentally dropped a player into the lineup as a PR instead of PH. There was no way to correct the mistake, and it may have cost me the game. I ended up having to use a different pinch hitter who had weaker ratings and struck out with the game on the line.

Confirm substitutions works for me, and was a GREAT addition when it appeared (in v13, I think).

I do not recall checking a box in v14 (or v 13) to activate this. Is it not a default setting?

People asked for it for years, so obviously some people felt it was needed, and it's always worked for me.

Is it not working on 14? Another reason not to buy 14.

Have you reported this to tech support? Personally, I have had no issues with confirm substitutions.

It works fine in 14. There are no rational reasons left not to buy 14, except that you can't afford it.

The box is checked in my game, but it does not allow me to undo a change once it's been made. Or am I missing something? What exactly is the feature supposed to do?

I might make more $$ then you. I will get it eventually. Right now I don't see a reason to get it. I have 1 league I play, 7 others inactive til I get back to 2013 in the one league. I will be at 2013 by August most likely which is when I will buy 14. I still keep seeing people complaining about misc bugs, though.

Just a shot in the dark, but are you playing in Commish mode? There are minor nuances that only affect game-owners who are not in Commissioner mode.

Ahhhhh.....when you drop a sub in a slot you get a box that says something like: "Do you want to insert Player X into the number 5 spot, replacing player Y?"

Once you click confirm, the change is made. AFAIK, you cannot undo it from that point. The adding of the confirmation box popping up in the first place is the "confirm option". It does not allow you to undo once you confirm.

I play in Commish mode 99% of the time. That is how it works for me.

If you make more money than me then you are all out of excuses for not owning the game.

I've seen that dialogue before, but in this case I don't remember seeing it. But maybe it popped up and I clicked past it almost instantaneously.

I know this has been covered many times in feature requests, but there needs to be an undo button for cases like this. Why is it so impossible to block the GUI from passing a change to the game engine until the user has clicked back into the webcast or game screen? It really ruins the realism when a simple mistake by the user leads to dumb entries in a league's statistics. And it certainly ruins the experience of managing out games when something like this happens and potentially affects the outcome because there's no undo option.

I have plenty of reasons, I dont make excuses.
My main league has crashed on 12 after converting it. Crashed on 13 aftyer converting it from 12. After playing 13 seasons over 2 yrs(total) I re did it for the 6th time on 13, I back the heck out of it, so I should be good to go. The only reason I really want 14 is for historical not fictional. Since I can not use logos and uniforms folder for an existing league that feature which I will love for historical is useless for existing leagues. Since I play out 90% of my games in my 2 main league being able to use SP as MR makes no difference to me. With the fact I rely heavily on game generated FA in most of my leagues to fill my teams for players I dont have stats for I still would like those players to be decent and not be 1 star scrubs. I still see problems with 14 that apparently you don't. I also dont have time to play historical til I get updated on 2 other leagues. I might even skip 14 and just get 15.

Yes, the dialogue is supposed to be a last-second check of yes or no, rather than an undo thing. As far as undo goes, perhaps it's a reflection of baseball reality (you cannot tell the umpire to undo it once a player has been announced into the game) and maybe a reluctance to have undo in the game at all to prevent cheating.

Other than the undo, I'd like to see a little more detail in the confirm dialog. If I'm substituting for a runner, it should mention "Pinch Runner for XXX on Y base". I don't believe it even mentions which hitter you're actually pinch hitting for - Definitely a few times I know I picked the right pinch hitter, but I may have mis-clicked where it actually drops him, and I don't realize until after I hit OK.

I don't buy this at all. It's a non-starter because managers don't make mistakes like those that we're discussing here. To my knowledge, a manager has never intended to bring player X into the game as a pinch hitter but accidentally put him in as a pinch runner.

As far as cheating goes, an undo option for lineup changes does not enable cheating. So adding it is a non-issue and won't open up any further problems.

The "Are you sure?" popup was definitely needed and saves 90% of the bad substitutions (for me).

I've seen a better implementation in another game, though, which I think comes closer to resolving Charlie's issue. After you finish all substitutions you have two options: 1) save changes and go back to game or 2) undo all changes. Saves some mouseclicks, too.

Well, I'm just explaining, not justifying. Perhaps it's malarkey but perhaps it's what you-know-who is thinking. And perhaps he has not gotten around to it, but if undo would be so useful and easy to implement, why do you think he has not done so yet?
