I Will Happily Support This Release

Just wanted to add my THANK YOU for finally having an updated TBCB game. I'm going to support this release by purchasing it even though I may not play it much because I still believe at some point this game will be what I'm looking for.

Right now though, and I've posted this before, I actually have more fun playing with my old boxed version of the game than I do with the computer version. I'm not sure why that is, but it is definitely more fun to me playing with the cards from the original Title Bout. I have spent countless hours playing this table top game keeping stats myself and it has been fun.

At some point I really believe this computer version is going to be more fun and more rewarding than the boxed version which is why I'm supporting any update(s). And I thank you very much for keeping this game alive. Please keep it alive in the future with more updates.

Thank you.

Thumbs up

I know what you mean about the old card version, at 1st I preferred it but now I really love the computer one. Once I set up the fights, it's out of my hands & the computer decides.

Much like a real-life boxing promoter! The card game was fun, but the PC sim was and is a huge step forward.

That's the biggest thing for me. Though i must say the individual fights were more enjoyable with the board game. probably because you had to watch it. Now, I often get swept up in speed running fights. That's not the games fault, just the way it is.

Your cards didn't decide? Or do you just mean that you had to hold the cards in your hands? Confusing statement.

The computer decides the result instead of the playing of cards. For those who like to act as promoter not cornerman or boxer, he arranges the match then sits back and watches it unfold without influencing the action. I know I'm one of the faction that lets it ride with only the rare glimpse at number of punches thrown. I follow the text and pay little or no attention to the bars on either side.

That's not any different than the board game was for me. I had no influence on the cards.

I think that's exactly it. The individual fights were a LOT more enjoyable with the card version to me. I have tried so many times to enjoy them in this and I always feel like a spectator who has bad seats and is missing most of the action. When I play it with the cards, I KNOW who's doing what, when, and who's in charge and who's turning it around and coming back and who's edging whom out only to find a late rally turn an entire round around....

I just don't get any of that with this.

Yeah, it's great I suppose if you want to basically sim a boxing universe, where lots of results are what you want to see and careers and moving up in the ranks. But for me, what made TB card game great was the boxing match itself. Each individual one. And I loved them, and played literally thousands of matches.

Obviously, what I'd like is the best of both worlds. The ability to enjoy each individual fight like I did with the cards AND let the computer handle all the stat keeping, career progression, long term stuff. And I truly believe this will do that for me some day. It just hasn't yet.

YMMV

You turned them over didn't you? The computer does that for you. You become the spectator at a great fight instead of a participant like you'd be in an arcade game, mashing buttons to land punches.

Right Cap. My point was, I didn't have to do anything else. Not sure if it happened to you but if you didn't shuffle the cards enough from fight to fight, you'd get very similar results in 2 consecutive fights.

Cool, you had to shuffle the cards every round.

I know what you mean... I like the pc game a lot, but there was something about turning those old cards and keeping track of cuts, knockdowns and warnings yourself that I really miss. I'm also hopeful though that the new team will recreate some of the old magic in 2014...

I just want to sincerely apologize to all of you TBCB fans out there. It turns out I lied when I said I would happily support this. I am so very sorry. But I am so tired of posting a legitimate criticism of a game and having responses try to turn it into my fault, and it seems to happen everywhere but here it seems even more prevalent, so I'm not going to spend another dime at OOTP developments.

I am sorry. I swear I did not mean to mislead with this thread. Things changed AFTER this thread, and I just reached the final straw, you know??

I'll come back here and check for updates to my final purchase of OOTP 14, but I'll not ever spend another dime here. And that's exactly opposite of what I said in the title to this thread and I just wanted to apologize.

It probably won't matter, but I am sorry.

EDIT: Please don't think it was any response in this thread whatsoever, as it wasn't. I swear. I just got to my personal final straw in another entirely different forum than the boxing one. Please don't think I'm criticizing any posters here, as I'm not. You guys are great. I only posted this to apologize for telling a lie in the title of the post, not because anyone here contributed to my final straw, because NO ONE HERE DID. Hope that's clear enough.

Best wishes to all of you boxing fans and supporters of TBCB.

OOTP Developments no longer owns this game. It was sold to PISD. The forum is just still here... at least for now. So why stop supporting TBCB when you say that the guys in this forum (TBCB forum) are great AND OOTP Developments no longer owns the game?
