Looking for a v5 exporter
Our OOTP league would like to upgrade to v5 in the near future. Unfortuntely, we cannot find an exporter analagous to Pierre's previous exporters with all the functionality we require for our various OOTP-related applications. We understand that Pierre has not yet decided whether or not to make an exporter for v5, which is disappointing to say the least.
We have checked out a couple of exporters we have heard about, including CommishJoe's exporter. Joe's exporter is quite nice, but does not include a number of functions that are necessary to us to run our applications (free agency program, a baseball reference program, and proper win shares computations). Particularly, we have been unable to find an exporter utility that (i) exports all available in-game stats as Pierre's does, and (ii) allows you pick which stats you export. The ones we have looked at so far only dump all stats and all splits for all players into the CSV, which is difficult for us to use. Also, honestly, Pierre's utility was quite user-friendly, so that a number of league members could easily share the various responsibilities of maintaining our applications without spending a lot of time learning how to use the exporter. I guess my questions are: (i) is anyone aware of another utility out there that provides all the functionality of Pierre's previous utilities; and (ii) has Pierre made a final decision as to whether or not he will make a v5 exporter. I appreciate your help. Alhill (Owner of the Atlantic City Snake-Eyes, FOBL) www.thefobl.com |

Thanks, Steve, but we've already checked out that link, and that's why I'm posting here.

Edit - Sorry, I didn't read through your request completely. I'm not sure if you can pick & choose which variables you want from CommishJoe's Exporter. Last edited by Hammer755; 06-30-2003 at 01:29 PM. |

Yeah, that's the problem Hammer. As I said, Commish Joe's exporter is very nice, but it does not have many of the functions included in previous exporters by Pierre that are necessary to us. Joe's exporter does what it does very well, but it, unfortunately, is not really a complete replacement for Pierre's reporter.

It is disappointing that Pierre has abandoned his involvement with the stats exporter. With all due rspect to Commish Joe, the two utilities aren't even in the same ballpark.
This is an incredibly useful tool that I was hoping Markus could one day build right into the game. That would make so many stat heads so incredibly happy... |
