Can you regenerate a completely new player pool?

As the title says -- is it possible to completely delete the player pool from an existing save game, and then recreate from scratch an entirely new one?

I guess the ideal way to do this is to create a league template that has everything in place before you start a new game, that way I could generate a new player pool every time I start a new game. My problem is, I've started a new custom game, have put a lot of work into creating teams etc., but I'd like to be able to use this custom league as a template -- but without the existing players. -- ?

Just guessing here but couldn't you . . .

Copy the saved game folder, open copy of the league, delete all players, create template or QuickStart based on the copy of the league with no players.

Also, IIRC templates don't copy players but rather just the league setup. QuickStarts do copy the players. - I think.

I think you can dump everyone to free agency, go to show all free agents screen and click the select-all button, right-click, delete all, then go to league setup, fill all rosters (and then release for a draft or whatever).

I'm writing this from memory so back up your league before you try it.

Under 'League Setup --> Functions' you can hit the 'Clear Rosters' button releasing all players to the FA pool. Then you view the FA pool and select and delete all players. Then back to the 'Function' page and 'Fill Teams with Fictional players'.

The only thing is you end up with an empty FA pool but you fix this by releasing players from one or more teams, you could even release them all again, and not delete them. Then hit the 'Fill Teams with Fictional players' again. The only thing I'm not sure here if you end up filling teams, releasing players and filling teams again you might get too much talent in the league, you would have to play around with it.

This will give you a new player pool.

I believe this is correct. Didn't want to post it in case I was wrong, but seeing someone else post it makes me feel better about thinking it's right. It's definitely possible, just a matter of whether these are the exact steps or not.

Two choices:

1. View all players in league - select all players - delete all players

2. Release all players - view FA's - delete all FA's (no player select required)

Once done, just fill all teams with fictional players.

I think the templates used to not copy the players, but now it appears that they do.

Thanks for the help, all -- i appreciate it.

I'm not quite clear on the difference is between Templates and Quick-Starts. It sounds like you ideally want to create a Template as soon as you've set up your entire game but have not started it yet - ? Otherwise if you create a Template while you've already begun the league, it winds up being more or less the same as a Quick-Start - ?

The easy way is to randomize names but even then, patterns emerge. Another way is to create a template which starts with an all new bunch of players. However you lose the custom logos, caps and jerseys when you do this. You will have to either put all of those things in the proper general folder and have them be pulled from automatically (certainly an option) or go team by team and re-add all of that data. If you haven't set up custom jerseys, logos and caps then that is a moot point and a template will work fine.

as i understand that only thing different with a qs than a template, is that a qs will keep in its memory things like custom logos, ballcaps, jerseys and player photos-facegens if they have been created. the same league from a template will have default jerseys and caps, as well as no facegens appearing. they would all have to be re entered. The rest though should be the same in both, including stats for players, and even the date you save the template. save the template after the draft pool, and the template will come with the draft pool there on that day
