Glitch
So entering the 2032 season in my sim, the season schedule was shortened from 162 games to 156 games. Only my team played 144. And the Royals, who finished a half game up on me for the second wild card spot, played 147 games.

I don't believe so. I would suggest submitting a bug report and uploading your league file. The instructions for that are in the top post in the tech support forum, I believe.

May not be a bug. Is league evolution on?
If the schedule gets changed in a 15/15 MLB set up the interleague play gets screwed up. Since two teams must play interleague every day some games get missed/dropped.

I was going to post something similar. I have league evolution on and the season was supposed to be lengthened to 166 games but instead my team ends up playing between 154-156 each year and not every team plays the same amount of games each year.

Do you have the balanced schedule check mark checked? If not, you will not get the league worked out right. I would be sure of this before submitting a bug report or asking tech support.

You can't use a balanced schedule with a 15/15 MLB set up.

I have always used it, never had any adverse effects for me.

I think we may be using different definitions. The 15/15 schedule is by definition not balanced. Can you show me your schedule file? All mine start ILY_BGN... standing for interleague yes balanced games no.
The image below shows all 30 of GMO's 15/15 schedules.
