How to setup a "Greatest Teams league "

I would like to set up a league comprised of some of the greatest teams in history. How do I do this?

This is how many people do it including myself. Create a fictional league put 2 teams in each subleague, these will be deleted soon. Set up the rest of the game options as you see fit. Start your game,Ii use Commish mode you may want that for now.
Go to League Options - Setup - Edit LEague Structure - Import Historical Teams. Choose the year hit refresh choose theteams repeat til you get the teams you want. You may have to relocate the teams do this when you get all of your teams in as the game will move teams around often. After you get a few teams in each the AL & NL delete the fictional teams. After you get all the teams and in the league/division that you want them in hit generate Schedule. Should be good to go. I recommend using a GMO schedule when you are done.

Let me know if you get it or if you need screenshots.

I'm having trouble. I am on a Mac. When I click import historical teams I get prompted to: select master.csv or historical_database.odb file from database folder. However it only shows the installer file tree and i can't find either file.

yeah I thought they moved the file you want again on 14 vs 13 it used to be in My Library? i emailed Kev24Fan who is a buddy and fellow Mac user, he should hopefully respond soon if no one else tells ya where that file is located. Do Mac's let you search for a file?

I figured it out! I used a third party search program and finally found where it's located. Somewhat new to Mac OS. Thanks for your help!

Its different this year than last year. If you need to edit any files on MAC they should in Library folder then Application Support then you will see Out of the Park Developments folder where OOTP Baseball 14 is at. Then just goto where you want to edit files such as ballcaps, ballparks, logos, saved_games and etc.

You can actually delete the four teams immediately after you create the league. After you delete them be sure to delete all of the players as they will be in the free agent pool.

Once you have a blank slate to work with, add divisions or leagues as necessary and import the historical teams as you wish. Once you have the league structure you want, and yes you have to constantly rearrange the alignments because the game will keep moving teams around whether you want it to or not, generate your schedule and you're good to go.

How do you control what era the teams play their games in? I assume you have to do a one size fits all?

Would be really cool if the home team era would control the engine. I.E. 1980 Phillies at 1915 Phillies plays in 1915, but when the 1980 Phillies are home it plays in 1980.

I assume the game can't do this, but I was wondering how are these leagues typically set up?

Neutralized settings and modern era works best from what i see. Dead Ball era players still wont hit much more then 10 HR. Cy Young will still throw 250 IP with start highest rested 5 man rotation sometimes. Normal stamina. If you put it much before 1980 then you have a ton of teams stars that struggle to hit 30 HR.

The good dead ball era batters won't strike out and they usually have excellent speed and base stealing ability. I love them. Good dead ball era pitchers won't strike out a lot of batters but they usually won't walk any either, relatively speaking. They gobble up innings and save the bullpen

My custom leagues have players from every era. The fun is having Babe Ruth hitting ahead of Frank Thomas and the both of them facing Justin Verlander.

A clone Eddie Collins in almost all of my leagues. On avg thru 10 yrs. .350+ .380+ OBP avg 75-90 SB. Even hit 17 HR one season. Sucks on defense though, but I use him mostly at SS vs 2B.

Funny you should mention him. In my last season Collins played in 125 games. He hit .374 with a .947 OPS. He also stole 46 bases. He drove in 74 runs and scored 96. His total WAR was 7.5, good for third best in the American League behind Stan Musial and Albert Pujols.

I love fictional leagues
