I don't care whether a-rod is gg caliber or not, because it's just gravy. If you compare a-rod's stats and tejeda's stats in 2002, there's no way you can say tejeda was better player. Even if tejeda had bordick's fielding stats, he still wouldn't have been better than a-rod. The only way you can say tejeda was more valuable is if you define "valuable" as something other than valuable.

Maybe the solution is to have an mvp award for a guy like a-rod and, to make some of these people happy, a bpoagttyswnhbagwotp award for a guy like tejeda -- a "best player on a good team that you speculate would not have been as good without that player" award.

So let's add this to the wish list, a bpoagttyswnhbagwotp award.

Um in the game, it is called the "most outstanding player" most people change it to MVP for realism.

Alex Rodriguez did not make 25 million dollars last year. He made 22 million dollars.

2002 Horrendous salaries:

Juan Gonzalez 11 million
Carl Everett 8.67 million
Rusty Greer 6.8 Million
Chan Ho Park 6.8 million

With the Rangers, would you rather have 22 million of A-Rod or 22 million of crap? John Hart does not spend money wisely.

Actually he "only" made #19 million:

$21 million salary, $4 million deferred until 2012
$1 million signing bonus on March 1
$1 million signing bonus on Dec. 1

So it's $19 million for a 27 year-old good fielding shortston who by the end of last season had 300 home runs and career numbers .309 .380 .579.

Mussina is 34 years old. Zito has just two good seasons under his belt.

I don't see the argument that the Rangers would be better off without A-Rod.

YABANCI- ZITO is a 20+ game winner and this wont change for the next 10 years and frankly, if the A'S ever offers him in a deal, straight up for A-ROD then i think they should take it.

Althought the RANGERS would never admit it, this A-ROD signing was a KILLER that will haunt them for years and years. Even a 10 year old knows that you cant spend almost one-third of your salary cap on 1 player, no matter how good he is, specially a batter. RANGERS will learn this lesson the hard way.

Back to this threat topic, my definition of the MVP is , a player that carried his team to a winning season and if you took this player off the team would have not be in the position they were.
RANGERS are garbage with or without A-ROD, and this is a team that performed much better before they signed him. they were at least a fixture for the playoff every year.
My final point are , that A-ROD could hit all the Home-Runs in the world, that doesnt mean he's a better player then Ichiro, Furcal, Giles(braves) also A-ROD never hit these home runs when it counts, I would say that at least more then 70% of his diggers are hit when the game is already decided. NOT VALUABLE.

yabanci- it doesnt matter whether A-ROD only made $19M this year, the fact is, he might be making $30m next year, im just saying that each year he will be making a specific amout of money and all that will add to $25m per year when his ridiculous contract ends. Every year, he will be making more, at one point, he will be making up to $40M a year.
