Post Build a new stadium

I'm sure this feature has been requested before but I don't check in this forum all the time. Also I think Front Office Football had this feature. Been a while since I played it though and I only played the demo.

But anyway how about as a owner, part of your financial worries and goals is building a new stadium? There would be hurdles you would have to pass in order to get it approved. But once you got it approved you would get to set the dimensions of your new park, weather it would have a retractable dome (which would add to the cost of course), wall height, grass or turf? You know stuff like that. And of course building a new stadium might increase the fan interest in your team.

Also it might make them angry when you try to pass the cost to their taxes lol.

I think it would be a fun feature myself.

And once it's built, you can rent it out for concerts or monster trucks or what-not! This would be a cool feature to raise some revenue on weekends when your team's out of town!

Something like Front Office Football has now for stadium proposals. I think this would be a great option to further the realism of the game.

cool idea. I would add the ability to move a team and have that affect market size, fan loyalty, etc... This can be done but has to be manual. A random element would be cool. Maybe a randomly generated list of 2 or 3 cities that want a team and can support one...

fluharty - I know what you mean with regards to a feature that would enable an owner to move his team to another city. I've just started a 2002 career-mode replay with the Expos, and what I plan to do at the end of the 2002 season is actually move the team to Washington D.C (the city that I'm hearing will be the franchise's new home come Spring 2003). I will probably change some front office variables to the best of my knowledge and design some sort of new logo as well.

But getting back to your point, I do agree that a feature, or set of features, that would allow a team owner to initiate a franchise move, should be in place for OOTP5

Hawk.

Enron.

Another element to add to the stadium building and team moving element is to license the stadium naming rights. When Enron collapsed last year, The Astros immediately began negotiating it's contract. Earlier this year the Astros won that, and it's temporarily called "Astros' Field", until a new contract can be forged.

I have been looking at suggestions since OOTP3 came out and this is the best one yet. If you have a team with a terrible stadium, lets say Tropicana Field, and you want to build a new stadium to fund your team better, this would help you. Another addition to this idea is maybe you can pay a certian amount of money after the World Series each year to pay for the cost of the stadium.

I definetely think there needs to be more of a Ballpark Influence on team finances (are you telling me Jacob's Field didn't help make those Indian teams of the 90's, and that the Phillies aren't being hurt by the Vet?)
My thoughts were that maybe the ballpark should have a rating based on various factors (cleanliness, stadium age, sight lines, family friendly, historical significance, special concessions - like a Hard Rock in the outfield stands, etc). The rating would cause too things, a Concessions Revenue line in the Team Finances and a Ballpark Influence line (where the Team Market and Fan Loyalty are). The Ballpark Influence would influence the Fan Interest that would help with Attendance (just like Wrigley Field did with all those horrible Cubs teams, and has happened with all newer stadiums since Camden Yards opened).
The ballpark rating would/might decline slowly over time until it might become important to build a new one. But there would be an option (manual flag?) that if the stadium is "historical" then that decline stops or even goes up.

Thank you for your time,
Robert

Play a few years.

Start a new challenge league and up Fenway's capacity to 55-60,000. I saw my revenues jump in the neighborhood of $40,000,000.

I think capacity should probably have a less dramatic effect and other factors enhanced slightly and perhaps others could be added.

Yeah, but as it is the ONLY difference the stadium makes in the financial aspect is due to the capasity... no consideration is given to the 'beauty' of the park or other park factors (note : I am not refering to gameplay factors which does make a difference)

Excellent example of franchises being affected by the park. (not just the capacity):

Kingdome Mariners Vs. Safeco Mariners
