Handling international complex players
Finally, my international scout landed a worthy player, a nice starting pitcher with 4.5 star potential. He's 16 years old.
The last game I played, my scout found a potential 5 star catcher. I immediately put him into A ball. His projection went down to 1 star before the season is over. My scouting is set at 100% accurate Now, was this due to me throwing him into the rookie league right off that bat at age 16 and not giving him time in the international complex or was it just another prospect that was a bust? How should I handle my hot-shot international findings? Give them a couple years in the international complex? Send them to R-ball right away? |

Look at the real int. signings. No one ever puts their 16 year old int signings into the American leagues right away. Often they don't come over to the US until they're 20 or even older. |

I remember forcing that 5* catcher into the line up at age 16 and he hit around .250. I'll have to be more patient with this one maybe wait until he's 18 or he automatically gets promoted at age 20. |

I guess it didn't really matter.
After half a season he's already down to 1.5 stars while at the complex. |

Also remember that younger players are more prone to see relatively wild fluctuations in their potential ratings, simply due to the fact that they are younger and the scouts haven't seen them as much.
I just put a 19-yo RF out of the complex into either low-A or short season-A (I forget which) because he had the ratings for it, compared to my other options. Just depends on the player. I've got a 16-yo (maybe 17 now) C who looks like a complete offensive stud and I'm itching to get him into my minors. Just can't justify it yet. |

Is there anyway to increase the amount of good international players your scout finds?
I have like 20 and they're ALL .5-1 max/potential types. I tried putting more money into my international scouting recently so we'll see if that works. |

This is an indication that you did not buy into Lukasberger's advice, which would be a mistake, IMO. He is right on, as is olivertheorem.
Regarding your question, you have one of the right answers on that. The others are upgrading your scout, if necessary, and making adjustments in this area of your League Options (I currently have the module off in my 1902 league):
