How about a feature through the news that can have a TWiB (This week in Baseball) type quality to it...random quotes, great stat lines, etc.?

For the immersion-oriented fan, definitely a great idea.

The ideas I'd go with to expand upon your original posted idea: Add this as part of the weekly power rankings emails? Comments on who's moved up/down, who's on a hot streak, that sort of thing?

FWIW: Immersion and story are almost irrelevant to me in a simulation game, but I think this is an excellent idea for those who do enjoy said storyline and immersion related stuff.
