Schedule question
From 1903 to 1962 the number of games each team played was 154 right?
If yes, there might be a bug in the scheduling. In 1919, I just had a 140 game season. The prior seasons from 1903-1918 were all 154 games. |

Under Game Setup -> League Setup tab -> Options tab, check your Schedule Options. The number of games should be set there.
For what it's worth, I think 140 is the default number of games used for Minor Leagues. Not sure how that would have affected your major leagues. The other thing I'd check is League Evolution to see if the number of games was reduced. Whoops RchW just suggested the same thing. |

1904-1960 was 154 games, except 1918 and 1919, cut short by the war.....140 games is correct for 1919

Good catch, Questdog. Should've paid closer attention to the year the OP mentioned.

I am still relatively new to OOTP, what do you guys mean by league evolution? The only things I know for sure that I did change was add minor leagues in 1913 or so and change the ratings from stars to numbers. |

neither is off......1918 was scheduled to play 154 games, but was cut short due to the war.....if you play with the 'as played' schedules you will get the shortened season.....regular schedules use the schedule that was issued in the pre-season, so if you use that for 1918, you'll play 154.....in 1919 they scheduled 140 games, so you'll get 140 either way....

In 1918 was caused by the war, according to baseball almanac the US Government called for the shortened season. A lot of the elite players were called into active duty. However, even though the war ended in 1919, the fighting ended in 1918. The owners chose to reduce the schedule to 140 games in 1919 because they were expecting low fan turnout. However, despite no close races, the fan turnout at games was high. All teams made a profit in 1919. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Sad thing is 20-25 years ago I knew everything concerning baseball. Today I have problems remembering the baseball history and stats I knew back then. |

The federal government issued what was known as the "work or fight" order, which meant ball players either had to find work related to war production or be drafted. This almost terminated the major league season at the time it was issued, but the majors eventually decided to continue on until Labor Day. Most of the minor leagues, however, shut down within days of the order becoming official. I think only the International League continued on until Labor Day.
