Deleting New Player Nick Names

I was under the impression that if I deleted all entries in the nick_names.txt file, that nick names wouldn't spawn on newly created players.

This isn't the case. What can I do to accomplish this?

I believe it will work for subsequent new games that you create.

I deleted the entries when I first installed the game. All of my MLB quick starts have the player nick names.

the major league quickstart is a game that is pre-created and whatever changes you make to the names files, won't have any effect on it.......

You can re-import names to change the name database, but unfortunately that does not include nicknames.....once they are in a game there is no way of eradicating them......only option is to manually delete them, however they will continue to appear for new players.....you'll need to delete them every year......fortunately, there are not a lot of players that get them each year, so after the initial purge, the upkeep is not work intensive.....

PS. Anytime you apply a new patch, the game will overwrite all the name files and you will need to reinstall any that you want changed.....

That's unfortunate. Thanks for clarifying. I'll voice my concerns over in the OOTP 15 forum.
