Can't win

I can't win in this game. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I play out every game, but I don't manage. I leave it to my manager. But I just lose. I even tried to start a new league and edit my players to ratings of 100, but I still lose all the time. I just don't get it. I havn't touched the strategy or anything, just left it to my manager. I guess I just suck at this. I read here that people are winning all the time. Well, not me.

I suggest reading this thread http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ou-manage.html and search for more threads like it.

It'll take some practice, but you'll get it!

How many games are we talking about here? What's your record?

Even good teams go through some rough stretches.

My current team is tacked and I win. i am getting ready to play in the WS. In another league i have many goo players but I ahave had 1 winning season in 5 yrs. Some league you win some you don't. Look at Anaheim Angels of the Entire Sate of California, I am sure they will be fine by seasons end but right now they look terrible. What is your sample size?

I don't get this at all. I've often thought that the computer must make it easier to win games that I actually manage myself then if I simmed entire seasons. I've managed 5 complete seasons as the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1983-1987 using historical transactions. The 1984, 1986 and 1987 teams were dreadful in real life, and the talent on my roster was not particularly impressive, yet I've won the NL West all 5 times and played in 3 world series. I consider myself pretty adept at managing my ballclub, but there is no way that I make that much of a difference.

I feel the same way Incognitobear. No matter the talent level I have we cannot win. It gets stupid after playing five or six games and only managing a few hits and zero or no runs. No idea what I'm doing wrong.

you can't win, and I can't loose.

I trade away my stars and go with rookies, my pitching staff is getting hit with injuries, I lost my stud outfielder that I traded for, and traded away the platoon guys he was to replace, so I had to go into the minor leagues to fill that spot. And what do I get? 20 games over .500, looking at winning the American League for the I dont even know how many consecutive times.

Short answer, if you can't win, your team sucks and you need to get new players who aren't a bunch of bums.

Do you use pitch by pitch or one pitch mode?

I personally use one pitch mode. My goal is manage each Dodger season up until modern day (which at this rate will take a few more years real-time), so I see no reason to watch every pitch. Each game takes around 15 minutes, and at the end of a season I really feel like it was "my team" as opposed to just simming a season.

That is rough. Have you at least made it to the World Series in one of those 11 trips?

Truthfully, I don't mind losing in the playoffs to a superior team. I wouldn't mind simply contending (rather than winning every season that I've fully managed 1983-1987) either.
