Auto Set Up Minor Leagues/Too Much Pitching?
Hey all, just a question. Maybe it's something that I missed or maybe it's just a lack of bats in my minor leagues, but here we go.
Playing the MLB 2013 quickstart with my hometown Red Sox. I like to know my prospects but find setting up 6 minor league teams daunting, so I lock top prospects in place by disabling auto promotion, and than let the AI handle the rest. What I'm seeing though, are teams with 14 and 15 pitchers on them and only 9 hitters. No reserves. Is there a way to tell the CPU to make only 10 or 11 pitchers at a level, or do I just need better hitting prospects to even the rosters out? Just seems out of whack to have 15 pitchers and 9 hitters. |

I don't think there is a way to set player position/pitchers limits at a particular level although that would be nice. I think the game is behaving as it should however by promoting players ready for the next level.

Yikes. Now i have seen this, but not at the AAA level. I saw this a season or 2 ago in my A level or maybe it as Short -A level.
The key really, even if you have the AI handling the minors, which I do, because doing it manually is just.....too darn tedious, you need to pay attention to log jams. So if you have a bunch of MRs, or even SP, get rid of some. Trade them for some other prospects at other positions. Now in my league, I do see a bunch of guys in the AA club that have green arrows, but it seems to be holding them back so it can fill out the bats. I wonder if you see this because you are totally devoid of quality AAA level bats. Or even AA bats. I have seen red arrow guys stick around in AAA, maybe done to fill out the roster, but maybe the AI holds back on sticking what would be a 'double' arrow guy, meaning if the guy should be in AA it will feel comfortable putting him in deep water in AAA, but a single A guy it wont totally drown in AAA.

I think this is a serious problem. Whenever i get the AI to manage minor league rosters (at least in MLB QS, not sure about fictional), the AI puts like 9 or 10 relievers on each team and I end up having just 2 outfielders in AAA sometimes. Can someone look into this?

Also, with the date on the screenshot... if you have called up players when the roster expands, it throws all the minors off... because the AI still fills up the rosters, even possibly with players that don't belong at that level.

Huge issue
Skye is right@
This is the first time I have ever posted a issue with the game. I am seeing the same problem.. Too many arms in the minors meaning you have Pitchers DH'ing in the minor leagues a lot AAA in below. Second is draft picks getting cut by AI at a rapid pace. Can this be capped because it can be a pain to oversee your whole roster at one time when trying to move game along.. This issue with too many bats is a game killer long term if you only have 7 batters vs 14 pitchers on minor league teams

I need more info here.
Are ghost players enabled? How many players are locked to a level (as too many may throw off the AI)? In my tests I have not seen such behaviour. |

Did not have ghost box checked? Should I?
No Limit in minors is what the limit was. Should that be changed. I just noticed Pitchers DH'ing to fill spots in the minors. Just wanted to know how to avoid or is this a bug.. Thanks for all your help. This game rocks |

Only locked 2 or 3 per level, but if I don't.. AI will rid of my draft picks while keeping CPU's whole draft

Please zip the league files (just the *.dat files, you find your saved games in your My Documents folder within the Out of the Park Developments folder, i.e. "My Documents/Out of the Park Developments/OOTP Baseball 14/saved_games". FTP the zipped league files to our support server (instructions here: How to FTP files to OOTP Developments - Kayako eSupport Help Desk Software ) and let me know the filename. Then I can see what's wrong with your file, some setting seems to screw the AI up...

If it helps. It is the same issue DaveJust above is having. Maybe he has his file still saved.

SorryI have been working and hadn't had the chance to check this thread. I have not updated my game yet...I will back up exact tonight in case the new patch is not a permanent solution.
I did not have anybody locked at the time started my 2015 season and had the same issues, looking forward to installing patch tonight and seeing that hopefully it helps. Thanks everybody! |
