Correct me if I'm wrong but...
I just traded a 23-yo SP for a 27-yo MR after the trade deadline, but neither had to pass through waivers. The MR was on the Dodgers' 40-man. That shouldn't have happened, right?

Are you sure?
No, it shouldn't happen, and it didn't in numerous tests! The player on the 40-man should have had to pass through waivers, provided there are no unusual settings or conditions. Can you upload your league file and post its name, and who was involved? I'd like to look into it, if you don't mind. Thanks in advance.

There has to be a trade deadline established. It shows when you click play or in league events.

Is it possible that he passed through waivers earlier in the season?

SP Richard Rodriguez (Astros) for MR Scott Elbert (Dodgers).
Elbert had not passed through waivers that I can tell. Trade deadline passed, got the news story and everything on 7/31. Trade was made on 8/3. Will upload the league file momentarily. It will be called "Houston_Oliver". |

At least according to your news date, that seems to be the case.

Deadline was 7/31, and I didn't initiate the trade until 8/3. I hate waiting for a response so I always fiddle with them until I can find an acceptable trade that will work right then.

Okay, the trade log refers to both players as minor league players, even though Elbert did have a ML contract. It doesn't mean he was on the 40-man. He may have been outrighted to the minor leagues, while retaining his contract.
I'll leave it in the bug reports. Not to second-guess you oli', but do you remember the player being on the 40-man pulldown when you initiated the trade? I tried to check all transactions, but none are being kept. We'll see if we can get to the bottom of it. All I can reiterate is there must be an explanation. I could not force this to happen during all the tests prior to the change. ![]() (stop laughing pstrickert. I know I effectively said, "Cannot Reproduce")

I suppose me thinking he was on the 40-man was due to the ML contract and him going into DFA when I got him. I guess I could be wrong on that point. I didn't see anything in Elbert's history showing he was waived or outrighted, but I don't know if those things show.

I went looking in All Transactions, and sure enough Elbert was DFA'd on 7/17 and thus removed from the 40-man. No bug...well, not in the game anyway. Just in my head.
