Help with UNIS Please

How do I take a team like this and change the blue to grey and still have the texture. I'm using Gimp and paint.net but I cant for the life of me figure this out.

Its very hard to do using the jersey PNG format. You'd have to have the template used to create the jersey with all the layers so you could change the color layers without changing the texture layer.

Yes I'm learning that. I went ahead and bought PSP and have been experimenting for about 6 hours now. I have 1 half way descent uni.

I am trying to use the template from the mod section but its very confusing. It has about 100 layers and I cant figure out which one to use. I will keep banging at it and hopefully I'll learn before I get to old.

Have you tried my template from my signature below (the blue/orange jersey tutorial button - probably should've called it Template, not tutorial)? It has a lot to it, but you can experiment all you want and ask any questions you have.

Actually, it's doable with the PNG. GIMP and Photoshop allow you to select by color range, so you can select all the blue, de-saturate it and tweak the brightness and contrast. You can get something like this fairly quickly.

You're absolutely correct that you 'can' do it... but it really munches up text and script. There's almost always color 'bleed' over, and the more you do it to the same jersey, the worse it gets.

As you've proven, its certainly doable if you want, but to my mind, it usually doesnt provide a result I'd want to use in the game. Just my opinion.

True, the results aren't great, but I've always found a bit of blur on the jerseys & caps to be acceptable since the graphics in-game are smaller and tend to appear sharper as a result.

mm7607, I created a tutorial using PSP that's available here FaceGen | OOTPMODS.COM Bottom of the page. There are also PSP templates there (especially if you can't open the PSD file). Read Gern44's tutorial also. Photoshop ,Paint Shop Pro and GIMP users and all others can learn from each other. There are thousands of tutorials on the internet to help you learn. I bookmark these sites and occasionally print them out. Also check YouTube for videos. There are a few PSP users on this site so we can help too.
