My first import

I bought OOTP 14 today and after messing around with it and trying out new stuff I want to import my 13 game. This is my time importing and I really dont want to mess up my game. Its 30 years into a fictional world that I created. So what are the tips for importing your game. I saw that just importing the dat files was quicker and paste in the rest. Also do settings and stuff stay or do you have to reset all of them?? And then do new features just work away as normal or do you have to set stuff up for them??

Before you do anything, anything at all - for goodness sake, make some backup copies of your league file.

Just to piggyback on this thread, would you recommend doing a recalc of league totals after import? This is the 2nd version I've imported this league and wondering what the import veterens recommend?

I made this little checklist last year, changed for v14:

Importing checklist (modern MLB setup):

1. Backup ootp13 league
2. Install v14
3. import v13 league
4. Check all league settings, especially finance settings
5. Check trade settings (back to default for now)
6. Make sure league evolution is off.
7. Check to make sure playoff settings are correct (2 wildcards) and new CBA is enabled.
8. Update any mods that need it. (LGO schedules, put those back in)
9. Move ballparks, download AIO mod and add jerseys and hats since away jerseys are now in the game.
10. Spends hours looking at everything to make sure import was a success.

Drink a beer.. (optional)

How did you go about completing No. 9, and what is the AIO mod?

AIO= All-in-one mod. You can download and install it in game through the add-in central. It contains, ballparks, jersey's rosters everything you need for MLB style league.

If you're like me and use MLB setup but fictional roster you can still use the ballpark and jersey files.

You can manually install ball parks and jersey's if they don't load by going into team setup for every team. I hope this helps.

I just downloaded the AIO mod, extracted it to a folder on my desktop and then imported only the jerseys and caps into my game save. Then you will need to run the "update all photos" in the game setup (sorry I'm at work and don't know the exact place where that is).

The ballparks you copy from your old ootp13 and paste them into the ballparks folder in your ootp14 installation under my docs. Once I did that, they all showed up fine.

One last thing I had to do was go in as the commish and add all the new webcast photos one by one for each team.

Any particular reason why you set league evolution off? Is it just a personal preference or is there something with that feature that messes with the import?

Other that that, I pretty much followed every step when I imported my league. Glad I seemed to do it right.

Step 11.. once all is well..

Uninstall OOTP 13 and delete OOTP 13 folder from my docs (if you need the space)

I store my entire OOTP 13 folder under my docs on an external HD just in case I need something in the future.

Well I had already moved Houston to the AL in v13 so I didn't want anything screwy happening. I also don't like that option, having goofy things like new teams show up, ML rosters expanding higher than 25 players, teams changing names, etc..

I want to mirror the real MLB as much as possible.

If you want things like that happening, check it.

Good to know. I only 2 things check both relating to more or less offense. The rest I leave as I also don't want things changing too much.

Thanks, just wanting to make sure I wasn't missing something in regards to the import process.
