Newbie from iOOTP--please help!

Hi. Newbie from iOOTP who was motivated to buy OOTP 14. Since it's my first attempt with the new game, I'm trying to make my experience as much like iOOTP as possible. I'm starting a new Major League 2013 game...and the only thing I cant see how to do is...

How do I set it so there is only one level of minor league, one minor league roster, like iOOTP? Thanks for the help!

Not familiar with iOOTP, but there are two ways you could go about it.

1) Go into league setup and just delete the minor-league levels you don't want. You'd want to move all the players from the other levels to the one you're keeping before deleting.

2) Turn off minors entirely and use a reserve roster. The players would still develop, but wouldn't accumulate stats.

I thought it was in league setup > rules or options, but I can't find it. That may be due to the fact that I'm in mid-season though.

If you've made any other changes already, back up your league file before doing it just in case you lose a bunch of prospects or something.

olivertheorem explained to you what to do.

There is no "Disable Minors" setting. You have to delete the minor leagues yourself in league setup.

Once you delete all minor leagues, your teams will then have "Reserve" rosters, which you can set the player max limit on, also found in league setup.

Also, just a heads up - you're going to find a HUGE amount of differences between IOOTP and the full blown OOTP. There are so many more things you can do and customize.

Feel free to ask questions as you go along, but keep in mind some of your answers may come a little slowly due the recent release and large amount of posts.

I suggest using the "New to game" forum. Several of the veteran users here, myself included, peruse that forum often and are quick to help newbies with questions.

Posting your questions on this forum is fine, but this forum gets used a lot and your post can quickly fall off the page.

Seems like there have been a couple of iOOTP users who've made the leap, so welcome.

This also seems like a common request, wanting current rosters but not wanting all the levels of the minors. Seems like it would be beneficial to some if 2013-lite rosters were created with the majors and a reserve roster with some top prospects and 4A guys. Ease people without that overwhelming feeling.

League setup:

Be sure (as indicated by top right red circle) you have the correct league selected.

Click on functions (lower red circle) and select "Delete League", first item on the menu.

Ok I found this, and deleted all the minor leagues, but...

After doing that I have a reserve roster, but it is empty--my main roster (2013 Mets) has 28 people on it, but my reserve roster has 0. It seems that when I delete the minor leagues the players are released rather than going to my reserve roster. I'm so close, yet so far from what I want to do...any way to get there?

Before you delete your leagues, go to the "Rules" Tab, set your active roster to some high number. This is usually 25 by default, but set it to 50 or 60.

Teams will move a bunch of players up till they reach the thresh hold.

Delete your leagues.

Go to the "Rules" Tab again, set your reserve roster to the size you want.

Go back and set your active roster to 25 (or whatever you prefer).

Then teams will move whatever players are required to get down to 25. The players they move will be put on the teams reserve roster.
