P - pitches RH, bats LH

I just noticed a pitcher on another team I'm facing in the playoffs, pitches right handed, but bats left.

Pretty rare I would assume?

For my 2003 MLB league I found several pitchers that throw right and bat left. Mussina, Leiber, Marquis & Harden. V. Padilla, C. Zambrano, V. Zambrano, J. Mays, Kyle Snyder? are switch hitters. B. Claussen, M. Hendrickson, Randy Johnson, J. Kennedy, Lowry. D. Oliver, N. Robertson throw left handed and bat right handed & B. Woodall & S. Estes throw left and are switch hitters.

My brother's right-handed but left-footed. Stuff like that happens sometimes.

Of the top of my head, doesn't Mike Minor bat right handed and Clay Buchholz bats left handed.

I throw right handed and bat left, it probably isn't as rare as you think. Granted, I'm old and far from a professional baseball player, but I hold my own in some USSSA Softball

The great thing is, my dad taught me to play golf right handed, so I can play a round of golf in the morning and not screw up my softball swing for the evening. It is outstanding.

According to bb-ref there have been 312 pitchers in MLB history who threw right-handed and batted lefty.

Something of a coincidence, but four of the top five in PAs among such pitchers were active between 1915 and 1926. But it's not rare in recent times, with Rick Sutcliffe, Jon Lieber, Tim Lincecum, Jason Jennings and David Cone among the top 30.

Dwight Gooden came up hitting lefty and the Mets made him switch for fear that he'd get hit in the right arm.
